Thread: resolution problem, Help! | Forums

  1. #1
I just bought a new Far Cry and successfully installed in my computer. I can play the game. However, the background (ground and water) turns to blue but all the features (army, trees, houses, transports, weapons) are working perfectly. I think there is a problem with resolution. But it should be auto detect. I just put a new graphic card (NVIDIA Geforce FX 5500, 128MB, 1024x768). FYI, I just finished playing splinter cell pandora tommorow. So what should I do?

    Please help!

Auto detect may not work right because you have a vid card that came out after the game launched. Use low or medium settings until you get it to work then go up from there.
Make sure you have the 1.3 game patch you can download from UBI.com, and also the latest Nvidia drivers for your card. If you did that and it still does not work post back your system specs.

The 5500 is just a slightly higher clocked version of the 5200. The 5500 runs at core/mem 270/400, whereas the 5200 runs at 250/400.

Basically, your 5500 card is 2nd from bottom of the GeForceFX range, and Far Cry's advanced DirectX 9 graphics are REALLY pushing it to its limits! This commonly causes overheating, which results in weird colours!

Try reducing your resolution to Far Cry's minimum of 800 x 600 (instead of 1024 x 768), and set ALL advanced graphics options to Low. This will reduce the stress your card is under and help prevent it overheating.

If you have the cash, I'd recommend upgrading to a more powerful video card.

That may not necessarily be the problem H8Ball, I have a GForce 6800 and 1gb ram and I get the same problems, I'm downloading the 1.3 patch as I speak so if that doesn't fix it I have no clue, even when I max out the settings there is no change in the ground and water detail.
