Thread: Help! Cannot update to 1.2 !!! | Forums

  1. #1
I have sucessfully updated to 1.1 but get the following error message when I try to run the 1.2 US update:

"This program cannot update the installed version of Silent Hunter III US download v1.0 and v1.1 because of the following reason:

(Blah blah blah directory where game is)/MissionEngine.dll unknown version."

I don't want to reinstall the game from scratch and then do the update from v1.0 since I passed exams and want to start a campaign, so any help is appreciated.

Fer cryin' out loud!!! Please ignore this entire post, as I realised I downloaded the "download" version of the patch and not the "DVD" version. Everything worked out fine. A deserved extra round of depth charges for me!!!

You downloaded the wrong update. You got the download version instead of the US dvd version or whatever version you have. Just a guess but that's what happened to me. Good luck.

Hmmm. By the sounds of it you have user mods installed. If you saved the old files before you installed the mods then its easier to replace the originals. If you didn't you'll have to reinstall from the DVD.

Are you using a genuine version of the game? I installed the No-CD crack on mine because of the annoying STARFORCE disk check at start up.. but when I upgraded to 1.2 it wouldn't work. I got the same message... I was forced to re-install and put up with the annoying disk checking... but 1.2 is worth it. Hope this helps. It's a choice between 1.2 with disk check or 1.0 without.
