Downloaded map problems, help a dummy please | Forums

I downloaded a couple of maps yesterday and installed according to the instalation instruction. Problem is when I went on line and tried to join a game using one of the maps I downloaded the down load map box appeared and started to down load very slowly. What have I done wrong ? Probably save to map to the wrong location or something stupid like that but Im a complete moron so help me out please.

Good map releases will have an installer included. The better ones will actually find where you installed RVS. If you didn't install on the default (c:\program files\Redstorm blah blah blah) you have to remember to change the c: to d: (or whatever) in the install program.

or use the auto installer browse funtion to find the ravenshield dir. If they don't have an installer you need to read the instructions carefully. I generally don't bother with maps that don't have an install program included or those that come without install instructions.

I have also heard that the new d/l feature is still buggy and will try to download map that you already have installed. So it might not be you at all.

Thanks for taking the time to help, all the maps had an installer and I noticed they pointed to (c:\program files\Redstorm blah blah blah) like you said.
Maps were open market, open market night and a few other well known ones. Vice bar was the only one that showed up in the directory,I tried to play a custom mission but an error message was displayed when trying to load it. Ill play around some more tonight and if all else fails Ill have to throw another beer and pizza night for putor geeks
