Just built a new rig and thought FR wouldnt be an issue. Apparently it is. I getting btwn 5-15 fps.

Heres the weirdest thing. I just finished the 1st mission in Mexico and fr wasnt too bad. Now that I am in Vegas, the fr is ******ed. The level affects the fr?

    This is what I have:

Intel Quad Core 2.4 gHz Q6600
    Corsair pc6400 4gb Ram cl5 (2x2gb)
    EVGA 8800 GTX 768mb 384bit gddr3
    Corsair 550w psu
Duel 75gb WestDigi 10k Sata Raptors in Raid 0 (150gb)
    Seagate 250gb sata storage hdd
    Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler
    Vista Hpre 64x bit
    DirectX 10
    Samsung 24" LCD 5ms NR 1920 x 1200

I installed the widescreen hack to force the game to play in my NR. Could this be the issue? I thought a 8800GTX could handle the res, am I right?

I'm guessing you're on Vista? aside from playing the best UNOPTIMIZED console port, Vegas & Vista don't play well together.

Check out the TWEAKS thread to see how you can up you FPS's

    Yeah 64x Vista Home Pre

Ive had it about a month and man do I regret it. It has too many stupid "are you sure" pop ups, hardly runs any of my old software and it just an over all p.i.t.a. I really dont like it.

So its the game and not my machine then.

    Will chk the tweaks. Thanks

Well, the game blows chunks as far as optimizations is concern and/or playing it out of the box (patches help just a tad for SP play, can't say anything about MP as I don't play that) but adding Vista 64 just adds to your sour grapes.

Yeah, checking the TWEAKs may or may not help you and Vista. Perhaps DUAL BOOTING is the way to go for you?

I'm not sure how vista 64 works, but if it's close to XP in anyway I would disable Paging files completely since you actually have 4GB memory.

What kind of harddrives do you have ?
Harddrives are the only chokepoint I can imagine on your system, however it's probably like Want2Snipe points out, an unoptimized game and Windows Vista 64

Ohh, also I don't know if there's a patch for Quad core's for Vista, but there sure is for XP which really makes a difference in performance, so that would be worth checking out. This patch does not automatically install for XP so it might be the same for Vista

Lowered the res, hacked some tweaks and turned off the video hardware option. Getting like 25 fps on average now. Ok I guess.

What a piece of krap game. Brand new $2000 rig and have to run it on what my old machine had.

Thanks guys, at least I can play it now.

As far as the Quad Core patches go. What is there a software vendor patch for each game? OR is it something that Intel or Microsoft puts out to force all games to use all 4 cores?

I did a quick search at technet, this might be the "patch" that can improve performance, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936357/en-us
You can check it out, it might guide you to the correct one.

Note, this is for intel cores.

I think 1920 resolution is a bit much with this game due to poor optomization even with xp

There could be other causes of your problem than just Vista. My suggestion is to do the following:
    1) Run RSV until you see the extreme slowdown. Then alt tab out of the game and do 2) and 3).
    2) Run the application Process Explorer. It's a free MS Windows app, just google for it. I run XP but I believe it works in Vista too. See if anything else is hogging your CPU time during the slowdown. I have a 3.7GHZ P4 and had a problem with some Nvidia deamon or something taking 25% of my CPU time during RSV.
    3) Run Nvidia Monitor and check your temps and GPU clock rates. Your graphics card could be overheating and kicking back to a slower clock rate.
    4) Check your motherboard docs and forums on your MB. Some Intel MB's severely slow down the memory system if you have more than 2GB installed.

    Hope this helps.
