Looks like Surfer Girl called it. Following the announcement of delays to some of their software lineup, Ubisoft also let loose that FC2 is indeed being developed for the PS3 and 360, in addition to PC.

Good news for console fans and people that won't have the kind of PC rig necessary to handle this run this game playably upon release.

Looking around, there seems to be some glaring holes in this whole "confirmation."
on Neogaf, they reference a french no-name website that posted this first. They said Far Cry 2 was only coming to the 360 and PS3, not even the PC. So there is strike 1.

Then, teamxbox says this was announced when they delayed the game, which happened a month ago.... They also say it will be simultaneous release.

NOW, IGN posted something saying that it was announced today, the PC version didn't get delayed at all, and the console versions are 6 months after the PC version.

Seems everyone has their stories twisted. Can someone from the developer team please comment and say if this is true or not because due to the inconsistancies among the various stories, I have a very hard time believing the articles...

How is this even near hard to believe? Granted the articles might not be exact, the fact is, this was always going to happen, considering the game was runnin on a beefed up core 2 duo and a 8800, these consoles will be able to handle most of the game decently, the only thing they might have to compensate for is the textures. Granted I have a 360 and PC that can run this game and ill prolly get it for PC, PC fanboys am cry.

That´s were you are wrong. Todays consoles can´t even match a 7900GT with a dual-core CPU.
If they do a console version of FarCry 2 they will have to make smaller areas or they will just have to use an agressive LOD for the console version. Textures won´t be as good as on the PC-version (if they have 2048x and 1024x or higher res. textures on the PC-version), particles will have to be less and the physics can´t be as complex as on the PC-version aswell as the Ai.

Lets hope they don´t screw the PC-vesion for the console versions. Making a big game mulit-platform is almost never a good sign (if it was anounced for PC first).

AI has never had to be dumbed down in any console port, including Oblivion, people talk about all these bad pc ports, when in reality, there are more good ports than bad, Oblivion, COD 2, COD 4, Bioshock, Gears of War (console to PC), nothing was sacrificed in these games except some DX 10 effects if it had them, some textures as well (Oblivion) but there have been some console games that have had DX 10 effects, (GRAW 2 had God Rays, fully dynamic, along with other effects) Im not saying all this stuff to be console fanboyish either, my pc specs are decent (AMD X2 5600 @ 3.2, 8800GT in the next coming weeks, etc.) Ill prolly end up getting this game for PC anyways. I do however, believe the consoles will pull this game off quite well if time is taken, and like I said, the only thing that I think will be noticeably different will be textures due to the 512mb RAM in the 360, PS3 who knows. Physics can be just as complex as the PC ver, the 360 has 3 cores {2 threads per) @ 3.2, it can handle it, especially considering the 360 is Alan Wakes main dev platform, thats saying something considering there is nothing more complex than Alan Wakes environments that I can see, I think this game will do very well on consoles.

If they're going to regress this game back to console status then I'm not interested in it. I had higher hopes for this game. I thought it was going to be on the bleeding edge of PC gaming, not toned down for consoles.

Thats where the logic is flawed, the devs have said from the beginning, this is a PC centric game, and has always been dev'd for the PC first. Why would they downplay the PC ver for consoles? Seems to me that the console version get downplayed, NOT the PC ver. See what im sayin? I wouldnt worry about the PC ver getting downgraded for anything, considering this was PC first and foremost. Its kind of like FEAR, even though its not near as technically advanced as FC2, its a good example, people thought that FEAR was going to be PC ONLY, and that if ported, the new console (360) couldnt handle it, turns out that not only could it handle FEAR, but also run HDR and some added texture benefits, of coarse the PS3 ver was a little different due to the development being a little more difficult, that port did not come out was well. Bottom line is IMO, FC2 can be done on consoles pretty close to its PC counterpart.
