Far Cry 2 1.02 FOV is a fishbowl and uplayable | Forums

I have just purchased and installed FC2. I am on V1.02 and my FOV is still a complete fishbowl.

I have tried it with both auto update and manual update (it is a digital download). All patches install without issue but do not rectify my problem.

I have tried it @ 1280x1024; 1680x1050; 1600x900 with both 'widescreen' checked and unchecked.

Even at 3840x1024 it is either too magnified (no 'widescreen' checked) or a fishbowl ('widescreen' checked)

All of these resolutions are unplayable. It is a horrific fishbowl effect.

I have scoured google and these forums and the widescreengaming forums and there is nobody else that appears to suffering from this issue after installing the 1.02 patch.

RacerS FOV apparently only works with 1.00 & 1.01 and is a hack anyway, and so, unusable online.

Bottom line is, I installed/uninstalled this game 3 times over the last 4hrs and have been trying every config possible since then, to no avail - still unplayable.

Surely someone else is having the same problem and surely UBI must have a fix.

Is it too much to ask to be able to play a game I just bought? I have a headache now from looking at this game and from the amount of working I have put into trying to play it.

Still cannot play. FOV is still a fishbowl.

Please advise.

Nevermind..

I figured it out, after 7 hrs...

I have TH2Go.

With literally EVERY other game I have (lots of games, too many!), when I select the Resolution/AR, the game sets my desktop to that res/ratio.

i.e. - I run a 3840x1024 desktop but when I play, say CoH, when I select 1680x1050, it plays fine because the game, logically, sets my desktop to this resolution in the background.

Simply put FC2 does not do this. I have to manually go into Power Desk SE and select the 1680x1050 before I start the game.

What a pain in the ar#e!

Anyway - too tired to play now after all that!
