Once you complete several chapters, can you go back and replay an old chapter, and then come back later and continue where you left off on the full game?

For example after completing three chapters, and you're starting chapter four, can you quit. Go and play chapter two, and later come back another time and start the game back up at chapter four?

yes but you can't do ch.4 half way through and reach a checkpoint then quit and do ch.1 cause it will overwrite your checkpoint
