    @ Heimdall_G

Just curious, the list has been these for quite some time:

    -- Spybot - Search & Destroy - free version
    -- Ad-aware - free version
-- Spyware Doctor - free trial
    -- PestPatrol - free trial

Have you discovered any good, new (free) programs?

My how-to's are written for the "lowest common denominator" individual. On that basis, the criteria for the above set of utilities are that they must be freeware (or free to try), easy to use, effective, and nearly impossible to use improperly. Although with the last criterion, it's entirely possible that a person who looks for, but can't find, the Any key could do so.

Since you asked and in addition to the above list, go here and look through all 17 pages.

Be aware that, in the hands of the computer-illiterate and/or someone who won't RTFM, many of these utilities can do significant damage to a system - even to the extent of rendering the PC unbootable.

However, since IMO I've given sufficient warning, I'll take no responsibility for that sort of thing nor will I offer any assistance to the resultingly SOL!

Good thing the Mac doesn't have an "Any" key or I'd be in deep trouble.

When confronted by the on-screen message "Press any key to continue", some folks are exceedingly distressed by not being able to find that key.

They'll then call tech support for help in finding it. A really good support person is able to resist bursting into overwhelming giggles as a result....

To quote Homer Simpson, "Where's the ANY key? I see esk, ka-tarl, and pigup; there doesn't seem to be any ANY key!"

I'm not too proud to say that I was once that person . . . and I do mean LITERALLY.

Any I'd have to credit Heimdall with having the knowledge and experience . . . but especially the patience (and resisting the fit of giggles) to compose list after list of detailed instructions, starting with "clean install" of various Myst games.
