I'm had to reinstall Fb+AEP+PF. When I try to start the game I get an error message saying the application failed to Inatilize propery. It seeems I need something extra to start it. Can anyone help. e-mail to twootan62@comcast.net

uninstall, then try to re-install again.

You do not need anything extra.

If you're still really on FB+AEP+PF,

consider buying IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. (US retail version) The needed add ons to bring your CD versions to 4.07m are more expensive and nearly impossible to get. 46 installation is a lot easier and more rewarding in maps/planes. Everyone flies 1946 online too.

Thanks for your help. I've purchased 1946 todat and am installing it now. thanks again. I found out that a missing dll file was causing my problem. Thanks again.

CAREFULL!!

DO NOT buy the 46 add-on (download)!!!!

You will need all add-ons for it to be able to install amongst a score of other negative issues.

Buy the IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 DVD SET. This is the complete game and includes everything(FB+AEP+PF+Addons contents). It installs to 4.07m in one go. The free 4.08m and 4.09m beta patches can be downloaded from mission4today. 4.09b1m is the latest version (there are some new beta dll files too at Mission4Today)Everyone flies 4.08m online.

Thanks. Thats the one I got. It says its 5 games in one on the cover and its in DVD.
I guess I can do away with the original game

OK - You'll like it!
If you got the US version you can play without the DVD in the drive. If not, the DVD is protected by SecuROM 7. This can cause some minor problems.
These problems can be easyly overcome by
-1- Updating the DVD drive's firmware (free from the drive's manufacturer site)

-2- Configuring the IDE channel the drive is connected to to use DMA if available.Open Device Manager,r-click the IDE channel select Properties and select "DMA if available" in the transfer mode drop-down list. This mode is faster than PIO mode.

These two steps should solve all problems (if any), and you want to do them anyway. Step 1 will probably give your DVD(RW) drive more capabilities including wider compatibility with media, Step 2 will increase it's performance and reliability.
The US retail version is still preferable, because you don't have any problems at all and can keep your DVD safe in it's package.
