Thread: Tech tree progression? | Forums

I have yet to hear anything about the Tech tree progression for RUSE. Anyone care to speculate? Make suggestions? Any Dev's mind adding their comments?

The game was just announced; patience is a virtue. I'm sure they're going to announce more info. soon (or I least I hope so). I'm just glad we already got 4 gameplay videos.

we can either look at it from a historical perspective, or a building perspective. Historically between the years 1942 and 1945 there is little tech difference. In terms of what models were used for the weapons, tanks airplanes. Very little changed so a tech tree is next to useless, however, a building tech tree is something different. Meaning you need to build factories to produce certain key things so that a B-17 could be made or maybe the factory gets upgraded machines in it so it is cheaper and faster to make a Sherman Tank.

To me the production side seems more plausible as a "tech" tree vs needing to tech up to your Sherman tank in the first place as is tradition to the RTS.

I'm partial to your way of thinking NaishotheNeko. And I did hear the guy at GDC say that we would have "bases" so I'm guessing there will be building of sorts.

And the trucks delivering supplies via major roads is the resource income.

I think there will be an aspect of tech tree progression, but only in what buildings you can build and not you need to build this and this, and research that, and upgrade this and then you can create this unit.
