Can you buy DLC on steam and activate it on retail? | Forums

Hi I am wondering if you can buy the settlers 7 DLC on steam and activate it on a retail game.

I am wondering this because it is currently on offer and would rather not deal with the ubisoft store.

It is also cheaper to buy the gold edition of the game from an online retailer than to buy all the DLC from the ubi store.

I tried, but Steam said that I was trying to buy content for a game that I didn't have.

I have now brought the gold edition on steam and am trying to get my normal key removed from my account. Hopefully this means I have an extra copy of the normal game for a friend to play with me.
