About 5 weeks ago was my birthday, and the only thing i really needed for my comp was a new harddrive, since i was running with a p4 2.0 (it musta been high quality or something cuz i could run farcry on high), 9800pro and 512 ddr mem. my old case was an IBM with a 100 W ups (ya i know eek), unfortunantly i didnt know it was only 100W and aparently the new harddrive upset it a little. the new harddrive must have channeled more energy to it and less to my 9800, because shotrly after it's fan blew out and the card nearly melted (kinda burnt myself on the heatsink). of cousre this was unacceptable so i proceeded to get a new case and ups. i got a thermaltake mid-tower with a nice lcd screne that displays core temp and cpu temp and 4 wall fan speed controls for 120$ at frys electronics. meanwhile while imm trying to get the 9800 replaced since it was under waranty, i couldnt reach tyan, the company that manufactures it. Of course my stupid neither my motherboard OR processor from the old IBM would fit into my case, so i got a nice steal from frys; a p4 2.8 and motherboard for 179$. Even then i still couldnt reach Tyan so i proceded to call compusa, the retailer where i bought it, and they said that i should give up trying to reach them, becasue their customer service is a little lacking, and they offered to give me ANY CARD I WANTED for free, so long as i returned the 9800pro, so i chose the 6800u cuz imm a big Nvidea fan. so after this little cherade was over i had cmopletly repaced everything but the drives in my comp for under 400$. good deal eh?
end specs:
thermaltake case
425 ups
p4 2.8
6800u
120GB 7200 hd
512 ddr mem
(srry this was kinda wordy)
