just curious for players who were around when other heroes games were new.

how did their expansions roll out?

were they like homm5, where they created separate versions of the game that required separate patches and multiplayer clients?

or were they like certain other games, where owners of the original game were given a patch to bring everyones client up to date?

i would be interested in hearing about other heroes games expansions and support cycles.

    Hello.

I got all the four HMM games and expansions!
Well, now i realize that i miss the last one for HMM4...
I didnt play HMM1 but i played (too much!) the other three. The expansions were apllied on the original games, no separate versions whatsoever I think. Since i have HMM platinium, i dont know if they worked in separate versions by the time of release.

i think the expansions worked all in the same way: new classes/towns/heroes, more scenarios and campagnes, more game possabilities like artifacts combinations,...

i still enjoy playing HMM3 and sometimes HMM4.

The general rule was that by running the expansion you could access both new and old content. The best and easiest solution as the same menu can get boring. I can't remember about H4 but the previous were like that.

With heroes 2 the expansion added a bunch of excellent artifacts and artifact combination and four tiny campaigns about half the size of the original campaigns.

As stated you could access original maps and new maps from within the expansion game. As far as I know they didn't continue to patch the original game, but there wasn't much to fix. Just making bone dragons stronger and fixing the bug where all your black dragons disappear. How could they make two more games without fixing that :-p
    Artificered rakshasa kshatra are awesome.
