Thread: Whatever happened to the hearbeat sensor? | Forums

  1. #1
The heartbeat sensor was one of the unrealistic things in the older Rainbow Sixes that was kinda cool and somewhat plausible. It was one of the defining features of the Rainbow Six series. I would really like for it to make a comeback, as it was such a staple for the Rainbow Six franchise.

There actually is such a thing, it doesn't work that well though. I agree though it would be good to see it back. I guess they figured they would just use the radar.

Lame. The thing about the heartbeat sensor is is that you actually had to have it out to be able to see anything, thus disabling you from using your weapon. I don't know if that is the case in Vegas, correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is apart of your HUD.

    ^ correct

i think thats a good point about having to disable a gun to use the HBS. Radar is unrealistic.

btw i think SF do actually use HBS, but you need to put it against a wall to hear whats on the other side, so it picks up the vibrations i think. Something like that , correct me if im wrong.

Interesting. I will have to do some more research on that.

whether it be HBS or some other form of radar/GPS, I think that it should be a separate asscessory which disables you from firing your weapon.

I'd like to have it in there, but in the fashion it was in the book:
Have it set up like a laptop outside the area of activity. If you want to use it, someone has to stay back to operate it and call out tangos to the team verbally. No magic maps in the corner of the screen, and not seeing through walls like in Lockdown.

How about if they used the old style hbs but this time has the radar/map on the 3d model of the hbs. Just an idea.

they traded it in for supernatural x-ray vision and a god-like omniscient magic map/GPS

No, the MP5/10A2. It's an MP5 chambered with a 10mm round. It is the gun that was officially issued to Rainbow in the book (although Tom Clancy calls it an MP-10, which is incorrect).
