Thread: H5/3.1 : error on Steam multiplayer | Forums

  1. #1
Error when receiving the map info from the host : internet game online on steam.

How do I fix it so I can play with my friends on steam ?

I have open all ports to my router, so it should be finely open.

Heroes 5 was badly coded for online multiplayer games : all sorts of frustrating problems can happen --- such as desynchs & disconnects.
If you put computer players into an online game, it becomes a worse experience.

One thing you can do in your case is to email the map-file to all participants, before setting up the game.
They should place that file in their "Maps" folder --- where H5 is installed.

gives no real sense since I already have maps, no new maps but H5 property maps.

have three friends who play and they can find to play together. but I can not get info from the game host, so I can play with them.

hvordn do I fix this problem?

I cannot help you more, but this tech-help section of the Forum is sometimes visited by a few tech wizards who might help.

There are 2 reasons why I cannot help you more :

    1. I do not have enough information on your computer and on your connection setup to perceive what might be creating interference.

You said you opened all ports to your router. That was a strange statement : ports are selectively opened --- usually, by people who know how to do it. Consequently, I am not sure what you effectively did.

    2. Heroes 5 multiplayer has a bad reputation : it was not optimally coded. Some gamers seem to experience no problems, while others have had a lot of frustrating issues with it. You might be one of the unlucky ones.

(Inserting computer players into an online multiplayer game of H5 significantly increases the odds that the game will crash.)

P.S. > In order to eliminate the router as a possible cause of interference, unplug the router from the Internet (only when you intend to play at H5) and plug the Internet cable which was feeding the router directly into your computer. (Reboot the computer if the Internet is not detected.)
After you have finished playing online, replug everything as it was before.
