Thread: FPS drop after story missions and challenges (PC version). | Forums

  1. #21
Well now I looked again at this thread and I'm having a similiar problem, but not exactly like this. I actually have a Nvidia graphics card. And my problem is the singleplayer - freeride is working ok, frame rate is not stable but fast enough (45-60 fps), but as soon as theres a cop chase or racers etc, the game goes really laggy (10-25 fps), and it's almost unplayable like this.

Is anyone facing that kind of issue too? My rig is good enough so it shouldn't happen, and MP is running totally fine so I don't understand how come singleplayer is so slow. Lowering graphics doesn't help at all.

What exactly is your rig? Sounds to me you're having an isolated issue with the game if you rig is really up to par.

As mentioned, knowing the system spec helps, as well as length of your game sessions or how long it takes (how many story missions/challenges) for FPS to drop to 60 FPS when VSync is off.

After reading your responses however, I'm not sure it's anything different than we are experiencing. Using VSync effectively caps FPS to 60 vs say 120 or so. The time you spent thinking you were getting a solid 60 FPS is probably the time it takes when you're not running VSync for the FPS to drop from 120 to 60, thus you didn't see a drop. However once the lag kicks in with VSync ON, it's going to be even more noticeable because you've got VSync employed as a frame limiter. It would be all the more noticeable in missions where there's a lot of cops chasing, sirens flashing, collisions happening, etc.

There are some whom claim they have zero problems with the PC version, yet they often don't detail the spec of their system, whether VSync is employed, or how long their game sessions are. Any spec capable of running any mission at 120 FPS after launching the game can SEEM to run fine for several missions with VSync on, but that is merely due to capping the FPS to 60 and not seeing the drop from 120 FPS to 60 you normally would.

A gamer's session can vary quite a bit from one to another. Some people have busy schedules what with school, part time work, homework, girlfriends, etc. For some a 1 hour session is long, for others it's common to play 3 hours or more at a time. It's easily possible to play this game for 1 hour with no noticeable FPS problems depending on settings and what missions you play, but the PC version clearly DOES have stability issues.

Certainly no problems for me, vsynch is enabled as my 580s tend to overheat if I let them loose.
Played some solid game durations at weekend including a 14 hour stint on Sunday with FPS never even twitching a 59, constantly stuck on 60.
I am now on my second play through of the SP game with all challenges complete and only around ten stunts remaining.
Safe to say I have caned it and seen no problems myself, on the other hand it deosn't mean problems don't exist for others.
    Click for specs:

Whole rig is liquid cooled, CPU, GFX, RAM and motherboard.

This thread is a bit old but since they put it on sale on steam a bunch of people have bought it. I am one of those and this is still a problem. If i play 3-4 races online my FPS drop from 60 to 15!! Which is forcing me to restart the game every 3 races.... In single player its a bit less because I start off at 80FPS and it drop to around 20-30 after a hour....

Can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet.....

    specs:
    GTX260 (latest driver)
    Intel Q8200
    4GB DDR2

I was able to fix my FPS drop by doing a clean install of my video card driver for one session only, the next day they were back

    Hi All!

I bought the game too on Steam Summer Sale for 5 euro. I have this very annoying issue too. I'm playing this game on a notebook, which has an AMD Radeon HD 5470M VGA. When I start the game, everything is OK, the game runs fine with 50-60 FPS (minimum graphic details). After a while, the performance drops rapidly to unplayable values. I have the latest VGA drivers and the game is of course also up to date. I'm not playing the blu missions, only the yellow ones. This problem seems to be really a huge memory leak.
I wrote to Ubisoft Tech Support, and they gave me an answer in 24 hours, but the given instructions didn't work at all. I updated the problem to Tech Support with more exact informations, hopefully they will find a solution, but I doubt it.
I asked the support team, if there will be any further patches in the future for the PC version, but I didn't became answer for this question. More than a half year is gone from the last PC patch (1.04). I think that there will be no more patches.
It's too sad, disappointing and annoying that so much time after the release, this bug is still not fixed!

If my english is not so good, sorry for it, I'm an hungarian guy.
