    Hi. Been out of the loop a while. Turned on FSX a couple of days ago - saitek x52 worked fine.

    Bought a new monitor. Turned on IL2 1946 - x52 doesn't work, nor does it work in FSX now.

    Within Device Manager (Vista) the stick is listed under 'Unknown' rather than 'Sound, video & game controllers'. It states it is running properly. Also there is no Saitek folder in Program Files, which i think there should be. Stick is not in Control Panel> Game Controllers either.

    I can't see/use/allocate the stick in any of my 2 sims.

    Sorry, this is long-winded.

    And, since plugging monitor in, I get 0xc000007b error + Media Tray Applet loading error.

    Oh, and when I put the Saitek CD in and try and run the SST install thing, it rejects it with the 0xc000007b error reference.

    Baffled. Help much appreciated.

    Try uninstalling any saitek software and get the latest drivers and SD6 software from saiteks website and see if they work better. Although I suspect there are larger issues at work here, and I find it difficult to believe the monitor had anything to do with it, it may be a coincidence and thus a red herring. Some research on the net seems to indicate it could be a virus, I would run a scan with whatever anti-malware software you have and if that turns up nothing then I would try a couple of online scans, like Norton online scan or I think Eset has one. Also seen some suggestions that the .NET software may have become corrupted and needs a reinstall.

    Have you tried plugging into a different USB port? Are the lights on?

    Wich Monitor did you get? Brand, Type and Size.

    What connection are you using, and does it have USB or/and speakers?

    In any case its never a good idea to connect or disconect a Monitor with the system powered on.

    I will run Avast! tonight.

    I've tried different USB ports - all lights on X52 are on.

    Monitor is a Samsung 2494HS 24inch. Connected via DVI-in (I swapped this after having originally used the RGB-in cable). No USB, but it has some little speakers and audio in/out sockets (not connected). System power was off when monitor connected.

    Thanks for suggestions.

    I should add that I wasn't connected to the internet when the error msg 1st popped up.

    And that I can't find any Saitek software to uninstall.

    NO software? I know I hate installing sw on C unless I have no option (use separate drives).

    It is not listed in the "uninstall software" option in control panel.

    I found mine on C in the programs folder. That folder was entitled

    Saitek

    and further in found the folder entitled software.

    If you go into your start/run, there should be an "Saitek SST Programming Software" option. Should not have been deleted because of a new monitor.

    You could do a search for a number of files in that folder:

    Profiler.exe
    Profile.exe
    Saismart.exe

    Most files in there start off SAI with some variation on the rest.

    Check all drives.

    That's right, there is no Saitek folder anywhere (there was... in C). There is no hint of anything Saitek in the Uninstall/Change a Program option either. When I plug the stick in, I can only see it in device manager - in the unknown section.

    When I try and run the SST Programming Software from the disk I get the 0xc000007b error msg.

    Long shot, but you could try this: Press Start, Run, type %temp% and press OK.

    This will open a folder in which Windows stores temporary files. It could be that there are lots of those in there. Try and delete them. (You may not be able to delete them all, some may be in use.)
    After cleaning it up as much as possible, reboot the system and try installing the Saitek software again.

    You need to unplug the Saitek from the USB first.
    Then install the driver and SST software
    Plug the X52 in when the installer tells you to do so. Not before.
    Then continue until it is finished.
