To all the people out there that think this game isn't tactical heres what to do. It all matters on how you play the game. If you just run and gun then of course the game isn't going to be tactical. When you and your team decide hey lets be tactical about this then you'll have a much different experience. You'll also be making the other team look like a bunch of idiots as they run into your traps, double team set-ups, and other various tactics that are easy to implement.

You must be talking about MP play because this does not apply on the SP Campaign or Terrorist Hnt.

Yes this does count for most games, but if you were to apply it to othr games it most likely wouldn't be as fun or wouldn't work as well. The only exception being COD4 which in my opinion is a terrible game. If random respawns are an issue in this game try COD4!

At least when it comes to the 360, this was alot more true before the recent update. With random spawn points, it is much more difficult to use teamwork and to be tactical. You sometimes spawn in the middle of a war zone which causes you to adapt and become a run 'n' gun style of player.

I don't do MP but I have read plenty of threads about this alledged issue and I am curious just how bad this is so I am going to use DGitts as a sample for my question... nothing personal or negativity ment towards you.

It is my understanding that every killed soul respawns close to where their other teammates are, is this correct? if so... I'll ask

If my above assuptiom holds any water and you respawn close to your teammates, why the need to run and gun? Aren't your teammates covering you by keeping the enemies at bay?

Again, I mean no disrespect, just trying to learn something new here.

Ok, you can say no disrespect, but the sarcasm still comes through. My point is, if you start in the same area each time, and so do your teammates, then you and your teammates can then use some sort of specific strategy together. With the current random respawns, you must rely first on quick fingers and instinct when spawning close to a battle. If you have a set respawn point, you don't have to worry quite as much about whether someone is behind you. You and a teammate could spawn in the same area, then go forth with a plan of attack, being able to watch each other's backs. I feel that my point should be quite clear.

i'll try to answer your honest question calmly. the respawn system is strikingly close to halo's. when dead, you will respawn in what the system considers a "safe" area, i.e. no enemies in the immediate vicinity. this could mean next to your team mates, if they a. are together or b. are not near enemies. whether or not they are under fire is not a consideration. you could spawn next to your friendly sniper in an open window. you could spawn next to your friendly assault person, smack in the open while he is running to cover. given the random-ness, however, you also spawn in the middle of nowhere. you could spawn in the middle of the map, entirely out of cover. you would be taking shots and yes, you have a spawn shield, but considering you may be surrounded, even if you make it to a piece of cover it may be facing the wrong way, or you'll just make it to cover, then get shot from someone behind you. you could also spawn inside buildings, on a floor not occupied by enemies, but with enemies on the floor above / below you, allowing you easy from behind kills with no hassles of sneaking around or flanking under cover fire.

I was thinking about this and came up with a scenario that I believe demonstrates my point as to why it is more difficult to be tactical now. I have been primarily talking from the perspective of team deathmatch and I will use the map "streets" as an example since it is in both vegas and vegas 2. With set spawn points, opposing teams spawn in buildings on opposite ends of the map. Each team has a building you could say. There are also three other buildings. From each team's building, these other buildings can easily be called "right building, left building, and middle building." This makes it easy to communicate with your team effectively and alert teammates of enemies' positions. I know that the map in the corner of your screen now gives names for the buildings, but in order to use those names effectively, everyone on your team must know what each building is called, which in an online match almost never happens. I know that if you take the time to learn all the names of the buildings and make sure that everyone you are playing with knows them, you could still use effective communication, but some people just aren't bright enough to figure out and remember all of that.
