At this point, I have no information about the plot of Myst V. But I thought it might be fun to list the Ages we're pretty sure are going to be IN the game itself.

Since, it appears, that much of the unused Uru:Live content is being used for Myst V, many of us have recognized location screenshots that have been popping up online here and there.

What it looks like so far:

    1) Negilahn - The "Jungle" Age. The background image used on the Myst-Tree.com site is Negilahn concept art from Stepehn Martiniere's website. Myst-Tree.com has been verified through official channels as being Myst V related...

    2) Todelmer. The only real mention of Todelmer is a graphic at myst5.ubi.com called "Todelmer Scope."

If you aren't familair with Uru and it's current fan-run online cousin, Until Uru, there are two inoperable linking books in the City Museum -- one links to Negilahn and the other to Todelmer. Obviously, these two ages were meant to be released soon after Uru:Live was intended to begin.

    3) Noloben. Fans have been salivating after Noloben since the first Noloben screenshots went up, what... two years ago? We now have a new screenshot of Noloben at myst5.ubi.com. (Noloben is also mentioned in a note on Douglas Sharper's desk in Uru.)

    4) Laki. The music playing on the Myst V site right now sounds very much like Jack Wall (Myst III, IV and Uru composer) and is entitled "Laki Arena." (Another unreleased Uru age.)

    5) Tomahna. You can see a screenshot of Tomahna HERE at the D'ni Jazz Club site. Looks like the telescope wasn't the ONLY thing to fall through the Riven fissure. (Speculation: Is this inside the volcano?)

    6) Also at the D'ni Jazz Club link above, a screenshot labelled "Node." Many might recognize this location from one of the earliest 3D tests the Cyan programmers did for what would eventually become Uru. (A video test of this location is available as an Easter Egg on the Myst Masterpiece Edition for MAC.)

For an interesting list of unreleased ages that would have been associated with Uru but now could easily become part of Myst V, check out the D'ni Restoration Council site right HERE .

Please feel free to comment and speculate!

    Thanks for the tips Vader!

I'm confident that Jack Wall was only involved on the Presto/Team Revelation projects. Tim Larkin was the mastermind behind Uru's compositions.

From the screenshots we've seen, I'm assuming we're looking at a game with a engine similar to Plasma, probably more like realMyst. Can anyone confirm that?

Yes Tim Larkin did the music for Uru and Path of the Shell. I'm assuming he's doing the music for this one as well?

Negilahn wont be in the game. This was confirmed over at UO by Grey-dragon or MarkD (chogon)

Noloben may not be in the game..it could just be recycled content if you compair the new image from older ones there are significant changes.

And yeah Tim's doing the music again (as can be seen in the interview DJC did with him).

    Did I say Jack Wall?

    I meant Tim Larkin.

Ahem! (I knew it was the Uru music guy... just got my names crossed... I knew that didn't ring quite right when I typed it!)

If I remember what I've read correctly... realMyst used the Plasma engine, Uru used the Plasma 2 engine, and Myst V is using Plasma 2.1 or something to that effect... (Better not quote me on it! )

Gasp! Why would they use the Negilahn pic on the Myst-Tree site then? (Get my hopes up and then dash them...) This kind of information is also why I put the word "confirmed" in quotes!

Same 3D models, different Age? But, we want to see Noloben... (Begin tantrum.)

And I did read that interview with Jack Wa... er... Tim Larkin on your site.

Is anyone else kind of disappointed that a lot of the content is just recycled stuff? I mean, obviously a lot of work went into creating/concieving these Ages in the first place, but I want Myst V to be Myst V, not "Myst left-over-bits-from-Uru"

It just feels, at this stage, like this game is just an excuse to use up the leftovers.

(Not criticising, just expressing an opinion which I hope will be proved wrong)

You may call them "leftovers", but they're completely brand new to me. I was looking forward to Live & these Ages.

i totally agree with you. i want myst v to be something special. i wouldnt mind if they used some of the leftover stuff (the very best of them) and create most of the game from scratch.

Well it seems right now we're getting:
Noloben, Todelmer, possibly some parts of D'ni and the Cleft
as "leftovers" if you would call them that.

However let me remind you that these ages (besides the cleft) were never released before. Therefore they are technically "new". You could look at it as, they have been working on Myst 5 at the same time as Uru, developing these ages for Myst 5 and now that uru is finished they're putting the finishing touches on M5.

Granted, that wasn't their intention. But as far as the assets are concerned, thats exactly what happened.

One would assume that the Cleft and D'ni are pretty small. Therefore, thats only 2 ages from Uru. The rest is new.

Also if they started fresh when POTS was released in April 2004, the game wouldnt be out until 2006 or later.
