Hi !
Just recently tried to play the game again (4th time) with my brand new pc !!!

When I start one of the first levels (where u get to use the glider the first time) and use the binoculars or the sniper-rifle with scope
the games freezes for several seconds, then i regain control only for the game to crash to the desktop where only a reboot can give me back control over my pc. did not have any problems in the first levels with FPS or Scope or Binoculars. I play with HDR-level 7 and all options to absolute maximum, 1280x1024 resolution. i even tried to lower the settings (although i can play at max with 100fps) but it did not alter anything.
maybe it's an nvidia-driver-issue ???
this is the only thing i update often and maybe
one update ago this fault was introduced to the drivers ?

game is patched to 1.33

my system:
win xp sp-2
p4 3.6ghz
2 gb ram
SATA-Raid
GeForce 7800GTX

While it might be video drivers, you might also consider sound drivers as well. Sometimes, with the binocs or with jeeps, there are sounds that crash the game if the drivers are not right. The X-fi card is pretty new so drivers might be the reason. Just a guess.

i think video drivers are more likely.
i finished the first few levels without problems and started the first level with the glider yesterday.
only thing i altered on my system since last play was video-drivers (i think). will try unistall/cleandriver pro/new install of whql-drivers ( i now use the latest beta).

try getting help from ubi via "ask a question"....
I have an looping-issue with SplinterCell 3 and
4 weeks later the ubi-support still tries to change my status to "solved" although i never got any valid response, only being shifted back and forth......in the beginning they did not want to help me on the engl.support-site because
I live in austria. they transfered me to the german support but they did not want to help me because I got an UK-copy of the game......so much about big companies....

UPDATE: it's the beginning of the PIER level, right after i blow up the satellite dish.

ISSUE SOLVED !!!

Hi, I experimented a little bit and found the culprit: nvidia driver 84.12 BETA !!!
When using this new BETA-driver and enabling HDR
(no matter which level) the game freezes when using the binocs or the scope of the rifle.
when disabling HDR the driver performs fine.

I now re-installed the old whql driver 81.98 and
now FarCry works with HDR !!!!

will report this to nvidia.
