Thread: Best Idea in Video Games? (XBox 360) | Forums

  1. #1
Who would like to see a new or upgraded Far Cry 2 map editor from Ubisoft? (XBox 360)
-Let's say Ubisoft takes the Far Cry 2 Editor, adds objects for different environments (not only Africa), building blocks (shapes), better vehicles, etc.
    -No campaign needed
-Online capability, with mulitplayer options like health, gravity, respawn time, vehicle settings, game settings, etc.
So you'd have an editor, that you could make your own games, taylored to your own custom gametypes.
Developers are spending time making content, when maybe it's not played, and we would rather make our own map, and have an excellent online experience.

Ubi is really close to being able to do this.

If they took this Editor and did the things you said, along with adding Ai capability's with pre written code for patrol routes and defensive actions.
also the ability to do basic text manipulation and adding Audio as well as a record mode like Halo and its money in the bank.

I would like to see the ability to add NPCs to create mini-campaigns. Imagine creating a gauntlet where you have to fight your way from one end of a box canyon to the other, or something like that.

They could start- maybe something new in gaming. It maybe would be like the gamer is in control of the game, rather than the developer making a campaign. I would be more than happy to have a decent editor, and good gameplay that I could take online. Having a lot of game options like Halo 3 does may be the ticket. If we had the editor of Far Cry 2, and the gameplay, and vehicles or Halo 3, and or Unreal Tournament 3... that would be SWEET! I'd buy it! Plus look at the time, and money it would save the company to not have a campain. They could make more money, by in time, developing upgrades to the editor/ and or new objects.

every game engine has to program where the bots/ai go. its actuall really easy. for instance the unreal engine 3 uses apples to signify where and what paths/bots will take. bot sees apple, bot goes to apple so on and so on to create paths/perameters. but with the resourses limited on the 360 the way they are there is not enough to allow this option. i do believe the xbox could handle this with ease because it is a very powerfull console but because consoles(xbox 360/ps3/wii) primary purpose is ease of use they will more then likely never allow it for consoles. most pc game editors have this ability though.

The XBOX being a multi-core system could handle basic parameters if they were pre-written options that you could mix and match. String pre-written code together to give the commands.
There is a game coming to the 360's arcade that while being more shooter (R-Type) and Platform geared. at least for the start they say. It is called KUDO. It has terrain editing. NPC's with a ridiculous amount of programming options. you can create your own game levels AND games. and then trade them online over live.

The same thing could be done with the FC2 Editor. Even with regular commands the gameplay would always be different because you could always experience a new map.

What I would like to see Is the stand alone Editor with the ability to add bots with basic programming to maps. But instead of making the stand alone Editor locked to one play style, I would add multiple styles of gameplay that would work like an Editor Object but costing more memory.
The Idea is to build a map around a single type of Gameplay But we all like different styles of play sometimes.

Here are some examples as I see them.

TACTICAL- Ghost recon, Delta Force Style gameplay.

    SQUAD BASED-R6 Series

CLASS BASED-COD4, Battlefield, FC2 type gameplay.

    STEALTH-Splinter Cell style gameplay.

    ARCADE-Halo, FC: Predator Type gameplay.

TWITCH-Quake, Unreal tournament style of gameplay.

you build your map and choose the style you like which you feel is suited to the map.

Or a couple of styles if its possible.

Basically when someone plays your map in a game, they would play a round where all of the characters movements and actions where set by that game mode.

Talk about adding some variety to what we could do. You could do a whole Stealth Series if you wanted to make some cool challenging game styles.
    Or whatever.

    Just an Idea.

Ubi has all of those gameplay styles in thier catalogue now.
That is why I made a point to note thier games for the different styles.
