When I start up the game with the memory card in, a screen pops up that says i do not have a memory card inserted and do i wish to continue without one. Then if i say i want to continue it will save my game because it says i do not have a memory card inserted.Does anyone know what the problem is or how i get it to save my game?

You might have too little space in your memory card... try deleting some old stuff from there.
Also, you can check if your memory card works by starting up your PS2 with just the memory card in (ie no game)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
