So trying to make it to the end with a Salmon Class.June 1945....attack another convoy, hit two ships, sink one heavy, other moved along but listing.

Took a severe depth charging, at one point entire aft torpedo room and engine rooms were flooded, was hell trying to keep from going down.Managed to repair bulkheads, pump out water, stabilize boat and escape after 9 hours (game time)

A check showed I was in no shape to continue patrol....Bow dive planes transmission destroyed, forward batteries destroyed, all four bow tubes destroyed.Starboard port shaft destroyed, two of four after tubes destroyed.Electrics and disels heavily damaged but repairable, took a real beating from the Akizuki, and two subchasers in calm seas.


Made my way for Tsugaru Strait and home.Things that could be repaired were repaired.I made contact with a lone Horai Maru transport...figured I'd use my two bow tubes to take her out and if needed use deck gun to finish her off.Too important a ship to let her go, if she was escorted would pass but too tempting.

Fired Mark 18 from tube 6 and the "cutie" homing torpedo from tube 8.The cutie failed to lock on to the Maru's prop sound but the Mark 18 hit it dead center...slowed it down but it kept going.So ordered battle surface.Popped up and opened fire.

An unexpected volley of automatic gun fire came from the Horai Maru and it was very accurate, these transports are usually defenseless due to their inaccurate gunfire, not this one.My sub was being peppered left and right with auto fire, but my guns were scoring man hits on them.

Them came reports of casualties...The Ensign(gunnery officer) was wounded badly, two petty officers KIA.

I coutinued pouring on with the twin 20 gun on the forward platform, and hit some of the Maru's gunners, stopping some of their fire.Then more report of casualties and noticed they were now causing hull damage.I ordered crash dive and cleared the deck.Working aft tubes were almost reloaded, would move in with little battery power and finish her off with torpedos.

As i prepared to do this, a huge explosion and the Maru began to sink.

I lost two Chief Petty Officers and 5 1st Class Petty Officers to the gunfire.The Ensign recovered from his injuries.

Nasty surprise the Horai Gave me, in past versions of TMO they were easy targets on surface, guess those days are over.
