Essentials takes place during the time when Sam was still in the Navy Seals. However, during the beginning of Essentials, Sam sneaks into his daughter Sarah's graveyard in 2009. This is apparently after the events of Double Agent. Conviction takes place 2 years after the events of Double Agent.Originally posted by Spartan8725:

Zherkezhi..... is that some kind of dried meat?
Well, "present day" here means 2008-09. Essentials is a series of flashbacks - some were what we saw, others were side missions taken on by Sam. There's also one where he's in the Seals in Colombia.
Thanks, but what exactly happens in essentials? Is Lambert dead? All i heard that happpens in Essentials is that Sam Fisher is arrested for either murdering Lambert or being a terrorist. Then Third Echelon interrogates Sam so he can clear his name, but doesn't that contradict what happens in the new Conviction game if Sam Fisher is a fugitve and stays off the Grid. Basically i just wanna know how SCDA, SCE and SCC all tie togehter. Please Someone explain
Explaining what happens would be posting a spoiler, and that tends to upset people.
If you go to google and do a search on "Essentials, walkthough" it should bring up a walkthrough that was done by someone at these forums that will tell you what you want to know.

Well, a while ago, I took the time to type out the transcripts of all the cutscenes and the basic plot of each level in Splinter Cell: Essentials on the splintercellhq forums. I'm going to provide a link, but keep in mind, this is the ENTIRE GAME BEING SPOILED.Originally posted by Spartan8725:
