Is there anything different that I need to have to build a dogfight map? I was thinking of using that map island map with 4 large bases and having 4 different teams but I am not sure where to even begin.

Hi,the only thing that you need to do is open a map and place homebases (every differend color is a team)on the airfields.NO WAYPOINDS needed,NO moving things like cars ships, use only static things to place on the map. After this give your mission a name (discription)and save it in your a dogfight folder in your game.

    hope this helps,

Thanks for all the help. Also what I want to to is put Luftwaffe planes in one base, IJN & IJA at another, VVS at a third and finally everyone else at the 4th base. Any other tricks to do that?

Depends if you want it to be the 4 teams (IJA/IJN, LW, VVS, Other Allies) or 2 teams (Axis v Allies). For 4 teams, make each Homebase it's own colour. For 2, make Allies red and Axis blue (standard colour conventions in the sim).

Also, when looking at the available aircraft for the Homebase, do a Remove All, then just add the planes you want to have at that Homebase. If you want to add all IJA/IJN planes to that Homebase you can select Japan from the drop down list labeled Country and click Add, and it will add all Japanese planes to the available planes list.
