    Hi first time poster here!

First of all i would like to thank Joe90 for his tutorials! ive only just started to try and make movies!

My problem is that any movie that i try to compress in vdub, using divx that is above 720x480 brings up this message in vdub (clip is only 14 second long):

    4 gig ram, 2x2 800mhz duel channel
    Radeon 5770 1gig
    500 gig harddrive

    Hail my6 and welcome.

Divx is a pay for profit video compression codec, so if you want the good stuff (ex: HD) you need to pay.

The Codec I use is a free video Codec called Xvid. It is much more versitile, it allows for better quality then the free version of Dvix. The biggest difference is Xvid take longer to compress the video, but for a 14 second video you wouldn't really notice the time difference.

You can get Xvis from their site which is here:
    http://www.xvid.org/

    Hope this helps
