I downloaded the 1.31 patch for PT, I ran the patch exe (us_scpt_multi_update1.31.exe), the PT logo came up, and the setup loading bar was completed, and an error popped up.

make sure you are updated to 1.3 before going to 1.31
1.31 is an update of 1.3 only, not 1.2 or 1.1 if that is what you are trying to upgrade from
