I have the same issue and would like to have the answer as well. Feel free to PM me, but I don't see why the solution hasn't been posted here...

First you have to completely uninstall LH III.
The uninstall of SHIII removed the StarForce driver, however.
So you have to remove the StarForce driver from his system with an extra step.
The license has a Starforce officially offered tool that you get here.

You'll then use Windows Task Manager in the Processes tab, look here, nothing can be inside what sounds like Starforce.

Additionally, you can delete the registry entries of SHIII RegCleaner SHIII (Finding your help in my thread)

So and now one looks for any search engine with the archive rld-sh14.rar.
Or you can go to Game Copy World and after looking

Silent Hunter 3 v1.4b [ENGLISH] No-DVD/Fixed EXE

and the archive gets there.

This archive contains 5 files (sh3.exe, MISSIONENGINE.DLL, SIMDATA.DLL, UTILS.DLL & STATEMACHINE.DLL)

First you installed SHIII new and removed the DVD from the drive.
Warning after installing the game may not start.
Now to patch to 1.4 with the correct patch (EMEA EMEA DL DVD U.S. DVD U.S. DL).
Respect the game after the patch process can not be started.
Now copy the 5 files in the root directory of the Silent Hunter III installation and overwrite the same files.

Done!

From now on it is possible to play SHIII starforce free.

dmansail did you read the post above yours to see how to install SH3 ?
