How do I change resx and resy details on this? I was able to get the game to load on my windows 7 laptop but it crashes right after it reachs the full abar.

Install it into the game file.

Open the d3d9 cfg file and change the ResX and ResY deatails to that of your monitor. Save and next time you start the game it should change.

For some reason I had to do it a couple of times before it actually worked???, but it did it in the end.

I also have just re-installed SH3 on my PC which has Windows 7 Ultimate installed. The install was fine. But when I run the game it says: "Error - This application can be launched with a release version of Microsoft Windows 95/OSR2.1/98/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003 only."
Can somebody indicate where I can get a release version of Microsoft Windows 95/OSR2.1/98/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003

11. Run the game. Should now work.

I didn't do any DirectX patch or amend anything for Run As Administrator or compatibility with SH3.exe. No change to main.cfg either.

2GB RAM
Windows 7 Enterprise
1280 x 1024 resolution

It almost brought a tear to my eye when the game loaded properly. (not an exaggeration)
Followed step by step EXACTLY, I only didnt remove Starforce, it wasnt there.

My question pertains to step 10 of the TonyJF-provided troubleshooting procedure. Where exactly does one get the "NO DVD rld-sh14.rar" to download? I did an internet search for it and yahoo search took me to the ubi and subsim forums which referenced the process, but nowhere did I find where to obtain the file to overwrite the files (step 10).

But What i have to do i want to play on Higher resolution?

My husband plays this fine on a 24x Widescreen 1920 x 1200 resolution screen.

I can't,
i can only make it go in windowed mode, at 1280x1024 .
i wanna play in full size at 1680x1050, like the resolution of mine pc. I also have 61 Hz of Refresh, so it's more than 59, i can't stand why it say to me " couldn't initialize 3d engine"

What type of video card do you have?
Do you have the option checked to run full screen in the game?

Always good to post some specs.

We have Dual ATI 5870, 2GB and didn't need to do anything special to run full screen.

i've a gts 250
8gb ram


i can run on full screen SH5 on all MAX Settings, But i can't run SH3 sigh -.-

If i play on windowed mode the game launch, but if i check the full screen mode, the game won't start. Sending me the error " couldn't initialize 3d"
