Of course, the answer was a joke...
*the game will use a 3D engine;
*the game will lean more towards strategy than RPG;
*the system requirements will be high;
*the game will not be released in 2004;
*there will be a demo;
*the multiplayer mode will focus on Internet play, but hotseat will be
included;
*there will be a unique storyline for the single-player campaigns;
*stacks, dragons, upgrades and other basic concepts from the previous
games
will be back;
towns will seem more "alive" than before.
*There are 8 Towns:
Chaos Town:
-Best unit is Black Dragon(best unit in the game):
HEALTH: 1,200HP
ATTACK: Melee
DWELLING: Dragon Cave
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
Flying
Massive
Fire-Breath Attack
Magic Immunity
Dragon Scales
MASSIVE: The Dragon takes up a space of 4x6 hexes on the combat screen,
and
takes up FOUR of the seven spaces in any army. This is for balance.
With a
Black Dragon in your army for the enemy to contend with, it will be
totally
unfair to also have another 6 armies to pester them at the same time!
FIRE-BREATH ATTACK: Due the Dragon's substantial increase in size, it
stands
to reason that its breath attack should now also extend substantially
to a
length of about 4 or 5. Of course, each successive unit affected will
take
less damage than the last. The first unit in the chain takes full
damage,
unit 2 = 80% damage, unit 3 = 60%, unit 4 = 40%, unit 5 = 20%. Friends
can
also be damaged, so watch where you aim!
MAGIC IMMUNITY: Black Dragons, as always, are completely immune to all
magic, hostile or otherwise.
DRAGON SCALES: The Dragon's hard scales make it very tough to kill. It
has a
VERY high defence rating, somewhere between 50-80. Additionally, the
damage
from all enemy melee attacks is reduced by -50%.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Town:
-Best unit is Overlord(third best unit in the game):
VISUALLY: A monstrous, terrifying winged beast wreathed in perpetual
fire.
HEALTH: 550HP
ATTACK: Fire Ring
DWELLING: Black Gate
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
Flying
Fire Ring Attack
Fire Immunity
HIDEOUS
Light Ward
MISFORTUNE
FIRE RING ATTACK: The Overlord's unique (and fun) attack is as follows:
a
white-hot geyser of fire erupts in a circle all around him. All units,
friend or foe, caught in this fire will be damaged as per the normal
damage
calculation (unless they have fire resistance). This is similar to the
Hydra's 8-headed attack. The ring of fire then sweeps outward for a
distance
of 4 yards (bringing the total radius of this attack to 5 yards). Units
caught in the first yard outside the initial ring will take 50% of the
normal damage, units in the second yard will take 25% damage, units in
the
third yard will take 10%, and units in the final fourth yard (outside
the
initial blast radius) will take 5% damage. This is a fire attack. Units
killed by fire cannot be raised, resurrected or animated. The fire ring
does
not occur during retaliation strikes.
FIRE IMMUNITY: Immune to fire-based damage spells, and takes half
damage
from fire-based attacks like Dragon breath.
HIDEOUS: Enemies cannot retaliate against a Overlord's attack
LIGHT WARD: 50% resistant to Light spells, and takes 50% less damage
from
attacks by Light-aligned creatures.
MISFORTUNE: Having Overlords in your army reduces the luck of all
enemies by
-1% for every Overlord in the army. 20 Overlords, for example, will
reduce
the luck of all enemy units by -20%.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Death Town:
-Best Unit is Bone Dragon:
HEALTH: 380HP
ATTACK: Melee
DWELLING: Dragon Graveyard
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
Undead
Flying
Fear
Panic (MH)
Bone
UNDEAD: Unaffected by spells that affect the living, particularly mind
spells.
FEAR: A stack of Bone Dragons in an army reduces the morale of all
enemies
by the number of Bone Dragons in the stack. For example, 20 Bone
Dragons
will reduce the morale of all enemies by -20%.
PANIC: Enemies are unable to retaliate against a Bone Dragon's
frightful
attack.
BONE: Bone Dragons take 50% less damage from all ranged attacks where
arrows
are used as ammo.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Life Town:
-Best Unit is Champion:
VISUALLY: Same as the H4 creature. A heavily armoured mounted knight
armed
with a deadly lance.
HEALTH: 200HP
ATTACK: Melee
DWELLING: Arena
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
First Strike
Charge Bonus
Evil Bane
FIRST STRIKE: Enemies may only retaliate AFTER the Champion attacks.
CHARGE BONUS: The damage inflicted by the Champion increases by 10% for
every yard he travels before striking.
EVIL BANE: The Champion inflicts an additional 25% damage on all 'evil'
creatures from the Death, Darkness and Chaos. alignments.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Light Town:
-Best unit is Archangel(second best unit in the game):
VISUALLY: Truly an awesome winged warrior from Heaven, clad in glorious
golden armour and wielding a really eye-popping sword that LOOKS like
it was
forged by the very smiths of Heaven.
HEALTH: 600HP
ATTACK: Melee
DWELLING: Portal of Glory
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
Flying
Awe
CREATURE OF THE LIGHT
Dark Ward
Devil Bane
Light Immunity
Inspiration
Resurrection
Spell Immunity
SWORD OF THE GODS
FAVOUR OF THE GODS
CREATURE OF THE LIGHT: As a being of pure light, Archangels are immune
to
Blindness, Poison, Plague, and all 'leech'-type creature attacks like
Demons, Leeches, Mantises, Barnacles etc.
DARK WARD: Archangels are 50% immune to Dark spells, and take 50% less
damage from units of the Darkness alignment.
DEVIL BANE: Archangels inflict double damage on Devils.
LIGHT IMMUNITY: Immune to light-based damage spells, and takes half
damage
from light-based attacks.
INSPIRATION: All friendly units gain +1% to their morale for every
Archangel
in the army.
RESURRECTION: Same as the H3 and H4 ability.
AWE: Due to its grand, awe-inspiring presence, the Archangel leaves
enemies
dumbstruck with sheer amazement. It therefore cannot be attacked by ANY
level 1 creature (as these weak creatures are too intimidated to do
anything). Damage received from all level 2 creatures is reduced by
half,all
level 3 creatures inflict -30% less damage and all level 4 creatures
inflict
-25% less damage.
SPELL IMMUNITY: Archangels are immune to all level 1-4 Curse and Damage
spells.
SWORD OF THE GODS: Archangel wields a holy sword, which inflicts 30%
more
damage on 'evil' units from the Death, Darkness and Chaos alignments.
FAVOUR OF THE GODS: Every round of combat, the Archangel has a 30%
chance of
having an additional turn immediately after his normal turn. This is
similar
to morale, but is not affected by morale. Even a Archangel with
negative
morale may be granted additional turns.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Might Town:
-Best unit is Mastadon:
VISUALLY: Introducing Might's new Mega-monster: the MASTADON! This
giant
woolly mammoth is like a walking mountain.
HEALTH: 600HP
ATTACK: Melee (stomp)
DWELLING: Blizzard Peak
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
Tusk Attack
Rage Stomp
TUSK ATTACK: In OFFENSIVE melee, the Mastadon attacks by stabbing his
enormous tusks into the enemy. This attack is 3 yards long, and damages
all
units, friend or foe, in its way. The damage calculation is performed
separately on each unit affected. Unlike a breath attack, ALL affected
units
suffer full damage. There is no distance-related reduction involved.
RAGE STOMP: When the Mastadon RETALIATES, it rears up on its hind legs,
lets
out a spine-chilling roar, and stomps the ground voilently as he comes
back
down. The entire battlefield shakes as if there is an earthquake. The
damage
calculation is then performed on all enemies, and the resultant damage
is
reduced to 20%. Essentially, it is as if the Mastadon has attacked
every
enemy simultaneously, but at only 20% of the normal damage. The
difference
between this retaliation and a normal retaliation is that the Mastadon
can
perform this retaliation whether he is attacked by melee, range, or
spell.
But like normal creatures, he can only retaliate once per round (the
enemy
should be thankful for that). This stomp attack also damages walls and
other
structures in siege combat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nature Town:
-Best unit is Phoenix:
HEALTH: 400HP
ATTACK: Melee
DWELLING: Altar of Fire
IN TOWN: Yes
ABILITIES:
Flying
Fire Breath
Rebirth
Fire Immunity (MH)
FIRE BREATH: Same as H2 and H4. Its breath attack extends to 2 yards,
damaging any units, friend or foe, who are unfortunate enough to be
caught
in the fire.
REBIRTH: Similar to the H4 effect. When a stack of Phoenixes dies, 50%
of
the original stack number is resurrected. This effect is permanent.
Resurrected Phoenixes do not disappear after combat. The cycle of
rebirth
can occur only once in any single combat.
FIRE IMMUNITY: The Phoenix is immune to fire-based damage spells, and
takes
only half damage from fire-based attacks like Dragon breath, Fire
Knights
etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Order Town:
-Best unit is Titan:
VISUALLY: Titans are now magnificently armoured giants, and the tallest
creatures in the whole game. They are masters of lightning. Even their
hands
crackle and glow with raw electricity...
HEALTH: 800HP
ATTACK: Spell (Chain Lightning)
ATTACK: Range (Lightning Bolt)
STARTING MANA: None
REGAINS: None
SHOTS: Infinite
DWELLING: Cloud Temple
IN TOWN: Yes
NOTE: The Titan has 2 attacks, a spell attack (Chain Lightning), and
his
normal ranged attack (ie. throwing of lightning bolts).
ABILITIES:
Lightning Bolt Attack
Lightning Conductor
Chain Lightning
LIGHTNING BOLT: This is the Titan's standard attack that we have all
come to
know and love. He hurls lightning bolts at the enemy. This time,
however, he
has unlimited ammo, because there is no short supply of electricity in
nature for the Titan to draw power from. Additionally, every turn, the
Titan
has a 20% chance of shooting twice (one lightning bolt in each hand).
The
first shot occurs before the enemy retaliation.
LIGHTNING CONDUCTOR: Titans begin with no mana, but they do require SP
for
the Chain Lightning spell. They build up a supply of mana during the
battle
itself. Every time the enemy casts a spell, the mana used in that spell
is
absorbed by the Titan (if there are 2 or more stacks of Titans, the
mana is
shared between them). There is no limit to the number of SP that can be
accumulated. Accumulated spell points left over after each battle are
carried over to the next battle. This means that a stack of Titans can
accumulate a massive supply of SP during the course of the game and use
them
at the end for one massive, climactic final battle! If a stack of
Titans is
split, any accumulated SP will be split between them by percentages,
according to the sizes of the two new separate armies.
CHAIN LIGHTNING: Titans can now cast the Chain Lightning spell.Chain
Lightning now works as follows: the initial target takes full damage,
the
second enemy in the chain takes 75% damage, the third takes 50% damage,
and
the fourth takes 25% damage. As masters of lightning, Titans can CHOOSE
the
four enemies to be affected, AND in the desired order. Also, the
Titan's
Chain Lightning will not chain off to a friendly unit. If there are not
enough enemy units, the chain goes no further. Finally, the Titan's
Chain
Lightning ignores all line of sight rules, and can curve over all
obstacles,
including walls.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sea Town:
-Best unit is Sea King:
VISUALLY: The classic sea god, Neptune. He is essentially a giant
Mermaid:
an old, bearded man with a golden fish tail. He towers out of the water
as
though the deep sea is a mere puddle for him. He wields a glowing,
red-hot
triton that shoots bolts of energy.
HEALTH: 800 HP
ATTACK: Range - triton bolt
SHOTS: Infinite
SIZE: 6x6 hexes
ABILITIES:
Triton Bolt Attack
Water Immunity
TRITON BOLT ATTACK: When he attacks, the Sea King shoots a sizzling
bolt of
energy from his triton. In addition to the damage inflicted, this
attack
casts a random level 1-3 curse on the target ship or on one of the
ACTIVE
units aboard the ship. This curse can be from any school of magic, and
lasts
for 3 rounds before being dispelled.
WATER IMMUNITY: Sea Kings are immune to water-based spells.
