Thread: FAILED TO DOWNLOAD MAP | Forums

I will not be buying anymore Ubisoft products "EVER". There is no support, in every sense of the word.
I know. I'm having trouble with it too. Even Asssasin's Creed Brotherhood (for PC) was delayed because of some kind of PC glitch / bug...

The fix doesn't work for me

I've tried the fix mentioned here. I have tried winhttp.dll from the download link, from the wow64 folder and from my old windows XP cd. I still get the same error message. I've also updated the punkbuster files as mentioned elsewhere but this hasn't helped either. I've tried both on my PC with Win7 ultimate 64 and on my laptop Win7 premium 64 and both still have the "unable to download map" error.

    Any suggestions anyone? Please help!

Ok so I got this to work myself. If anyone else is still having trouble, follow the details earlier in this topic to obtain the correct versions of winhttp.dll and punkbuster files then do the following:

    1. Move the Far Cry 2 folder to C:\Program Files\ubisoft (NB: it doesn't work from C:\Program Files (x86) folder on my system).
    2. Create a new shortcut for the FarCry2.exe file, right click, go to properties, compatibility, choose XP SP3 and "Run as administrator".
    3. Go to control panel, firewall setting. Check that the farcry2 executables and pb (punkbuster) exclusions are there.
    4. Connect to your internet broadband firewall. Allow TCP and UDP ports 9001-9002.
    5. Copy (DO NO MOVE) the PB folder from C:\Program Files\ubisoft\Far Cry 2\Bin to C:\Program Files\ubisoft\Far Cry 2
    6. Install the Far Cry 2 Fortunes pack which contains updated maps, weapons and vehicles which it seems is used in a lot of multiplayer games.

Only once I'd completed ALL these steps was I finally able to play multiplayer games without the dreaded unable to download map error.

Hope this helps someone out there.
