Thread: Can't hit squat with a torpedo ?? | Forums

Ok I played SH3 and I had no trouble hitting things.

In SH4 .. i close in to about 1800feet/meters whtaever the reading is in, i click the lock button on the right hand side then the placekeeper button on the left hand side, set the torpedo to high speed and hit fire, a dozen times on a dozen targets and not a single hit.

What am I doing wrong ? I'm playing easy mode so the crew should be doing all the number crunching and if the other ships are evading and i have a "green" lock i should be hitting yes ??

Do you have dud torp set to on? Could be the real falure rate. It is a wonder how any of them ever made it amd how the skippers dealt with it. Sad how many skippers lost command because of them.

I've actually had torpedo's prematurely explode before it hits the target. I am not sure how though or even a another torpedo might even hit it.

Perhaps you are forgetting to open the torpedo tube doors? (do it by pressing Q)

    It's even sadder than that!

Several commanders asked for other duty because they felt that all the "misses" indicated that they personally "didn't have what it takes", and they felt guilty about endangering their crews!

    Talk about a moral breaker!

No, ..... What you're seeing is good modeling!

Historically, "prematures" were one of the major problems with the magnetic exploder on the MK14.

Turn the magnetic exploder off and leave it off if you value your sanity!

One more thing... if you are encountering a problem getting the torpedo to follow the correct gyro setting, remeber you have to verify your target data to send it to the TDC
