Thread: Far Cry = Great Game AND New Rush Song! | Forums

The new album Snakes & Arrows by Rush features the song "Far Cry"

    http://www.rush.com/

While I know this is a bit off topic, but I wonder how many Far Cry gamers enjoy the music of Rush ... or did at one time.

    Thanks!

I listened to the intro before the lyrics start and it would make great background music for a Far Cry video.

I did not hear the whole song. Is it about the game or totally different topic?

I've been a big Rush fan for over 30 years. I've also used some of their songs in videos I've made. I saw them in concert right after they came out with the Farewell to Kings album. If you haven't seen them in concert it's well worth it if you get the chance.

They play even longer live now than they did then. The next best thing is watching the Rush in Rio DVD. They play about 3 hours in that video with a very short break. Here's the avatar I use on one of the forums I frequent. Any avid Rush fan will recognize this and it's meaning:

I haven't really listened to the lyrics of the song ... just enjoy the music. I would be surprised if the song was about the game, but at the very least, I like the coincidence!

I think I have seen them six times from Moving Pictures through Roll The Bones. Then, they started coming the midwest during the summer. That meant they were playing outside instead of in an arena. For some reason, seeing the boys on stage fanning bugs away from them as they played was kind of a let down. At the same time, the arena shows were often in quadraphonic, with speakers in the back of the arena - which made for a cool sound experience when the back speakers kicked in.

Just saw that tickets are going on sale soon here in the midwest ... still playing outdoors. This time, it would be in August, which can get pretty warm here.

Oh well, I have the Rush 30 and Live In Rio albums, which totally rock. The R30 Overature is a pretty cool medley of their songs.

Sorry to take us down an off-topic thread. I was hoping there were some Rush fans still out there. For some reason, I figured they would be Far Cry (the game) fans too.

    See ya!

The theme of the album is about an extensive road trip he took on motorcycle across America.

He and his fellow band members are natives of Canada. The song Far Cry itself is no doubt one of the main songs talking of his travels far from home. He took numerous trips to New York and Canada to meet with Geddy and Alex to touch bases on how the songs would come together.
