Thread: This is getting out of hand. | Forums

Is it just me, or is there beginning to be too many negative vibes on this forum? I have my doubts about SH5 too and I don't expect it to be perfect. But, seriously, almost every post on here for the past month has been a complaint and the game is not even out yet. I am a long time follower of the SH forums and have found them to be very interesting. I propose that everyone stop bloody whining about how they are not going to buy the game. If the game turns out to not be worth the money, then I won't pay for it myself either. But all this speculation about why it will be a bunch of garbage is getting old. People take "news" too seriously and jump to conclusions before they even have something to jump off of. I miss the old SH forums which were filled with interesting stories, history, and helpful tips.

    @Uniquewave;

We ALL miss the old forum and the community that participated in it!

But that was before the current factions took charge: .....Now the best we can do is fight for what we want the future to be! (....And THAT is a fairly dim hope!!)

I do hope that SH5 can revitilize the community. It was easy to tell that the SH3 forums were slowing down, its been around for quite a long time.

The trouble is that you will have to buy the game to find out that it is not worth the money, by which time you will have already paid for it. And yes there are a lot of issues being raised on these forums and sometimes they do detract from the more interesting things that are posted here. That is nothing to do with the community that exists here, more the inability of Ubisoft to deal with issues which keep getting raised here and then remain unanswered or just plainly ignored.

People, including me, expected a lot from SHV and I, like others am not impressed what I keep hearing, one boat, ends in 1943 and now to top it all I have to connect online just to play the game. These are genuine concerns and will continue to flood the forums up until the release.

Then the game will be released and true to form it will be bugged to hell and the forum will look like a battleground. The people who are able will try and give support to those who knew nothing of what the game would hold and the fact that it is bugged and tempers will be lost by others.

Not too long later the first patch will come out and things will start to become more 'reasoned' around here and more of a debate about the good and bad things in the game will take place. Then the modders (if the game allows) will step in with their first changes and everyone will settle down and start to enjoy things more and more.

If you think what I am saying is not correct use the search button and go to the time that SH4 was released the same things were happening then.

As for SH3, that is still one of the best forums to visit as the game still has a massive following and for me still remains at the top of the pile as far as the Silent Hunter series is concerned and looks like staying there even with the release of Silent Hunter 5.

    @ Maverick...
You do have valid points there. The only thing that annoys me is that people speculate things that they really cannot know until it's released. And that scares other people who are easily convinced by unsupported claims. I am not being specific at anyone, just in general. If people are all so smart at what it takes to design, create, and market a game they should go to the bank, get a loan, get investors and start their own company. Then take years of education and make their own game that is absolutely perfect. It is so easy after all.

(thanks for the encouraging words too Maverick, you get a gold star for participation)

uniquewave, I think you're right. I apologize for my negative attitude in earlier posts. I was disappointed, but that is of course because of my first thought: "SH5 will be like SH3 with only one sub and the career ending in 1943". The part of SH5 that's really in the box (and after some patches) will surely be awesome anyway!

Ubisoft has done two excellent uboat/sub simulators, and I do look forward to the new release! (But I still hope that there will be enough success for Ubi to develop a later addon with the Type IX and a full length career).

If people are skeptical or negative on what Ubi is doing, there are many reasons for it. Some of us have seen the quality of Ubi's games decrease over the years along with support going t*ts up and a general lack of communication between customers and the company. Things would be much different if Ubi listened to both potential and long time customers and released games with the proper support and features gamers wanted.

No change there then, I was a moderator on this forum during the SH3 and SH4 years and the amount of negatives outweighed the posatives on a very large scale. I didnt think this was fair to the Devs or the rest of the community that were trying to enjoy the darn game and get posative feedback and assistance with it.

And as a Mod who was supporting the game I got attacked, flamed, slammed and knocked about quite a lot on here for saying posative things about it !!

Hopefully SH5 will meet many of the communities expectations and be the best ever SH to sail the ragged seas. ( well with over 3 million poly counts in SH5 maybe not so ragged j/k )

There are bound to be complaints and issues, but I just hope they are not on the scale as before.

I am quite looking forward to getting onboard (bosuns whistle expected) and meeting my happy crew, having a cup of char in my cabin, getting my head down and letting them run the whole show...until a ship is sighted of course..lol

no THIS is whats getting out of hand!!!!

What will happen if I lose my Internet connection when I play the game?
If you lose your Internet connection the game will pause while it tries to reconnect. If the Internet Connection is unable to resume you can continue the game from where you left off or from the last saved game.

    DO YOU HEAR ME UBISOFT
