Thread: CD Keys - where are they? | Forums

  1. #1
Aren't they supposed to be INSIDE the box?
I grabbed a copy of Uru off the shelf to look at today, and the key was stuck on the back of the box.
Won't that open up a can of worms if someone just copies the key off a box in a shop and uses it to log in without buying the game first?

I don't believe that that would be the CD key, Mystmum. There are several other numbers on the box, and the CD key is printed on the back of the manual inside the box. As far as I know, only Australian manuals were printed without CD-keys, so I don't know why someone would stick a CD-key on the back of the box (assuming you're not in Australia)

Edit: Just noticed that mystmum is from Australia, so I'll take that back. That is an odd way to deal with the lack of CD-Keys... I had assumed they were going to put them inside the box. Maybe you should bring that up with the store...

I am serious. I am in Australia. And the stickers clearly said "CD-Key and then had a series of mixed letters and numbers in groups separated by - .
I even checked a couple of boxes and the numbers were different on each.

Wow, that is weird. I would have asked the store manager about that. Certainly not a good plan of action.

Nice catch, mystmum. I just sent your info (this thread) to the Ubisoft Reps.

I found it a tad concerning. It was at the local outlet of a major national retailer too.
You know, one of those places where the staff disappear as soon as you actually want one of them

Thanks. I'd be interested to hear if there's any feedback, please.

I hope that the Cd Keys on the back are not the same as the ones that were given to us in the emails from UBI Australia when the stuff up happend before.
If some of them are then the people that are getting the game now won't be able to register for live will they...
The CD Key would have already been used ?
