Patch 1.03 is being released for PC today, and includes some much requested fixes. Here's the changelog:

Driver San Francisco PC Patch 1.03:
- Added support for Logitech G27 Steering Wheel.
- Game now supports very high screen resolutions (up to 2560*1600).
- Several menu control glitches fixed.
- In some rare cases players may observe FPS stutter. This is now fixed.
- Fixed an issue when the game was unable to locate player’s saves if his Uplay account contained ‘.’ (dot character).

No fix for the MP freeze on the main menu.
Just have to practice on the challenge leaderboards till its sorted.

If is there one COP/Mission-NPC, no problem, but if there two or more, than the framerate is still droping to 8-12FPS.

Don't install this patch - the frame rate is now totally unplayable in races/missions with NPVs

Please stop scraremongering. I installed the patch and it's cleared up all the problems I was having before. Runs like a dream now.

I'm am not scaremongering. I'm glad the patch works for you.

But for me, before the patch, playing several NPVs was laggy but playable.

Now, after installing the patch, it is now so laggy as to be unplayable. By this I mean that the update rate is on often so low, it is impossible to steer properly.

On a 3GHz Core Duo, 4G RAM & HD6770, with graphics on low, no AA - and which runs DiRT3 quite happily.

So the patch might have worked for you, but has UNworked for me...
