i recommend Vegas 4 from sony.
Vegas
Its a very good editing program. you can download a demo from the site.
I used adobe premiere for years. All i can say is that vegas is for me better. Real time preview, Nice and easy interface, fast, good effects, surround editing and many more.
Other programs i use are adobe after effects and discreet combustion.

for a free alternative try windows movie maker 2 (its a free download, if ya have xp) thats what i used for my fitst two movies. really simple to use

ive got this software called cyberlink powerdirector
came with my 3d card ati9800xt
just wondering if its any good compaired to other programs
