Thread: Any word on a quick fix for 1.3 from Devs ie.1.31? | Forums

    Has anyone heard any news.

    Seeing as the prob with the sonar(mute)man is so bad,i was expecting the devs to come out with a quick 1.31 jobby,rather than have to wait for months for 1.4!

    Ya, even i'm starting to become impatient.

    Wishful thinking but ; Perhaps they're loading it full of goodies and fixes, and thats the time delay.

    I too thought a hotfix patch would be released ASAP while they continued to work on the next main patch. Guess not. We're just going to have to exercise our powers of patience, being that it's a virtue and all that.

    A worthy question. Surprisingly, I've also seen no definite notion that a hotfix for patch 1.3 is in the works. Beery and Jungman have been working extremely hard to sort out the problems of the 'uber destroyers' found in patch 1.3. They seem to have this problem pretty much narrowed down to the modeling of the arc and depth for the sonar those destroyers are using. However, it will take more testing to determine if/how they can make this more realistic. This is all in regards to their development of mod: Real U-boat 1.30 for patch 1.3.

    Does the mod they are working on fix the problem of the mute sonarman? I dunno. However, the problem of the 'uber destroyer sonar' seems to be the last of the problems they are working on now. Nonetheless it seems it will be at least a few days until RUb1.30 is released.

    Geeee... in conclusion, I don't know a thing. Which as far as I can tell puts me in the majority.

    I forgot to add that my suspicion is the dev team will, for any hotfix or patch, have it tested for quite a long time before releasing it -- so they don't have to go through the same discovery process among the end consumers.

    That piece of 1.3 is just fine. I play on 100% realism and I'm a little later on in the war and actually very much welcome fact that the DDs are better than from 1.2. The game is a little too easy as is. As far as I'm concerned, this definitely needs no tweaking as it's fine in 1.3. The SO and some other minior things are my main gripe with 1.3, though I am still using it.

    No idea why you want to nerf the DDs again.

    I have not patched to 1.3, as I'm content to let a team of 35-40 uber-modders work with it first. When 35-40 experienced sub sim modders are working almost 24/7 to fix what they deem as a problem with sonar ranging on the alleged uber destroyers, I am content to trust their work. There are about twenty threads at SubSim.com, filled with exasperating technical details regarding (as I remember) the 433 (in number) destroyers using the QGAA sonar with such-and-such parameters ... and how unrealistically this sonar detection is modeled in the stock 1.3 patch. Included are the parameters for the endless testing they are doing as they tweak this to what is, in their mass view, a more realistic occurence.

    This is the reason I am willing to let them 'nerf'. I am glad you are enjoying the patch 'as is' though.

    I'm getting tired of all the silence. They shouldn't of changed it and now my WO is worthless. He calls out ship spotted buy doesn't tell me where.

    There are 2 types of late destroyer in this game that you cannot escape from no matter what tactic you use (this has been proven).

    They needed fixing or really your game is just pot luck.
