Is it normal for the officer icons to appear like this in NYGM 3.3?

You have no Officer Icons. I saw another thread recently where someone complained about the same thing. Somehow that DLL, I think it's called, is missing, or was erased. I believe the player was given instructions on how to add them.

remove you sh-3 of you computer and install sh-3 again then you have orginele icons back .

Speaking of officer icons, does anybody have a download link to the "Das Boot Officers" icon mod? I had that mod working before the Grey Wolves series came out, but I have never been able to get it working with any version of GWX. This has left me scratching my head; I know my way around the file system and have never had any problems installing other mods. I really miss seeing Jurgen Prochnow's grizzled old veteran face on my screen, and of course, Johann's emaciated gesicht in the engine room.
