I know that we've already had a topic about bands, but I think that we could even have people that are not of bands, meaning not of groups, but one person as doing some of the music. On a whole scale, I hope for this topic to be about both groups and individuals as artists that should be considered for the next Driver game.

When looking at the music provided for Bullitt, which was done by Lalo Schifrin, who is also the one reason for music that was provided other movies and even video games. He provided music for Dirty Harry, Enter The Dragon (where Bruce Lee stars in), Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, and many other famous and great forms of media. Speaking in general, he would be the perfect man to provide songs of car chases and the whole undercover story for the next Driver game. You should listen to his main themes of Dirty Harry, Bullitt, and Enter The Dragon, as starters. Also, he provided one other good song for Bullitt, which you can listen to here. He'd truly be the perfect man to work on helping this next Driver game be as good as the original.

They still need to stick to what they did in D:PL. We need licensed music (as well as all of the D:PL songs back). A custom theme song would be good though, but all the other music in the gameplay should be licensed. See, D:PL was praised for it's awesome soundtrack. And I think Driver should continue with that.


And the soundtrack should have a HUGE listing of licensed songs that are in the Jazz, Swing, Blues, Classic Rock, Modern Rock, Ragae, Classic Hip-hop, Modern Hip-hop (just a few), Disco, Techno, House, Funk, etc genres.

The only good aspect about DPL's soundtrack were the 70s music, so you can't really call the entire soundtrack as being good. If Driver is to follow only the same songs of the GTA franchise and not present any original and unique songs that fit the style of the game, I don't think that it'll be enough for me and anyone else who's been hoping for something new. Driver Parallel Lines fits a broad theme for its songs and that may be too much for Reflections.

Perhaps the kind of music that Reflections needs is to be the most professional as possible while also contributing to the theme of car chases and many other parts of the driving portion of the game. To me, I feel that the other artists out there, those popular ones, who may or may not be good, can be listened to when on foot, or even when not on a mission, through the radio. The radio should be designed with radio stations in mind that both stray from the car chase theme and of those of movies from the 1970s and 1980s, but also those of today's. If Reflections can find the best of both sides, we'll definitely get some really impressive musical scores. I don't just want it to be about today's young and new popular artists, but I also don't want it to be about the older artists of today either. We need both.

And if we can get Lalo Schifrin as one of the contributors to the next Driver game, I'll say that he'd possibly be the best pick, as, like I've said before. He's done more brilliant musical scores for movies and video games than any of those young artists. He may be 75 years old, but he still can handle working on one last thing, if not letting him go back to the ways of Bullitt, except that he'll be doing the main awesome themes suited for car chases and the city itself. Wouldn't you agree after hearing his song in Bullitt that he's perfect for the next game?

Some of the songs from the 2000s part of D:PL were good. But overall, the music in the 1978 part was better.


I hope that we can wear an IPOD in the next Driver game (if set in the present day, hopefully). This way we can select what song we want to listen to and listen to it anywhere (driving or on foot). No radio stations please. Radio Stations are in GTA and they're really $#!++y.


I wish D:PL had some more genres of music. I mean, it was the best for a default video game soundtrack, but you can always add more (in any game). In the 2000s part of the game, there were no songs from the 1980s or before. There is a 90s song, "Way Out" by The London Funk Allstars was the only 90s song in D:PL. I wish we could've listened to the 60s and 70s songs from the 1978 part and have some 80s songs in there too. Even some songs from the 40s and 50s would've been good too. So, I hope the next Driver game covers a lot of good music (licensed music) from the 1940s to today.

I think that one of the reasons why the Driver series has grown pretty boring by its own settings is because they've not had the best music possible and just because the overall formula is starting to die out. Therefore, yes, we need a lot of songs, those excellent for car chases and other moments in the missions and story of the game, but also such songs that fit cruising about the city very well.

I know I say that D:PL has the best soundtrack in a game, but it should've also had more songs that are "New York Themed" and "New Jersey Themed". Some of the songs I expected to see that were of that type (mainly in the 1978 part, but whatever was in the 70s should always be included in the 2000s part) were:

"New York, NY" by Frank Sinatra
"Jersey Bounce" by Benny Goodman
"Nights on Broadway" by The Bee Gees
"Pennsylvania 6-5000" by The Glenn Miller Orchestra
"Take the A-train" by Duke Ellington

It should fit the game and athmosphere. Most of Driver2 music was great althought it was 30sec midi jam. I still hear Havanna and Chigaco in my head.

Quality licence and maybe some own, but fitting the game.

The music from Drivers 1-3 was short, uninspiring, and most of all... BORING! Not to mention that the Chicago music from Driver 2 didn't fit the environment. Chicago is NOT a f**king heavy metal city (that's what it all was in Driver 2). Chicago is a BLUES city. It's even known as "The City of Blues". Good Chicago "Theme" music would be music with muted trumpets, trumpets, saxophones, piano, drums, bass, drums, and maybe some singing. If Chicago comes back (and if I could change the Chicago music in Driver 2), I want to have songs like these:

"Sweet Home Chicago" by The Blues Brothers Band
"My Kind of Town (Chicago)" by Frank Sinatra
"Gang Bang" by Oscar Brown Jr.

Those are good examples of "GOOD" Chicago music, and they'd be great to listen to in the next Driver game.

I like the idea of having music themed after the cities and vice versa. Remember the music from that first D3 trailer (an extra on Stuntman), that slow blues, it sounded eery and creepy, it set the mood really well (too bad the game didn't follow through).

The only thing I wouldn't like a whole lot is, say, Miami, Havana, and Rio. I do like latin music, but it gets a bit weird when the singing starts, and after a while, even without singing, I need to change the music.

I suppose this goes for any music really. If they could have radio stations, it would be cool, or just to be able to switch between genres, no need for radio hosts cutting in and out of songs.

If they were to do this, I would suggest having different stations for blues, funk, latin, classic rock, jazz, disco, soul

A radio of genre would be good and it would be good if you could have custom stations with a mix of genres to your liking or even your own music from your hardrive. Now for me thats better than what GTA, Saints Row does. Driving late at night is amazing, Radio 1 does puts some obscure good driving songs on a lot. And they rarely talk at night. Less is more, music and thats it. If they want to add voices go ahead but not an excesive ammount, Something to tap your left foot to while driving is more needed.

Needed genres:

Classic Rock (Queen, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd [not to much floyd they are VERY heavy on the lyric thought provoking side], Meat Loaf, Boston, Journey, Free, etc)
Funk (Any of the funky music from Driver 2, David Bowie, etc)
Jazz (like from Chicago or MAFIA the game)
Soul (like from the Commitments)
Alternative (Editors, Daniel Powter, Kaiser Cheifs, Foo Fighters, etc)
Heavy Rock (Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, MCR, Jimi Hendrix, etc)
Rock Pop Alternative (Paulo Nutini, Fall Out Boy, etc)
