UBI officially dropped StarForce from all future titles, including HoMMV (thank God).

I heard that the protection will be securom 7.x (new version)

We only know that they are not using it on homm v!Originally posted by CandyKid:

I have not seen not goten any other confirmation that that. On the question what cp kartabon is reffering to the only a roumer from a frenshe news paper. I belive the roumor to be correct!

From the Gamespot news release:
"...Ubisoft has officially confirmed that it will no longer use the controversial digital-rights software from Starforce. "Ubisoft has decided to use an alternative copy-protection system to Starforce for upcoming releases," said a rep for the company..."
UBI dropped Starforce as a whole, not just for this title.

there is a diffrance from what ubi rep tells the media and what the facts areBut did the rep say for all the future?
And they are using sf for the russian version of homm v. So my frind dont belive the press.

I believe this:
UBI was hit with a $5,000,000.00 USD class-acction lawsuit that they're very likely going to have to settle, even if the technical data of Starforce doing damage to computers doesn't hold up, due to the EULA argument.
At the very least, everybody and their brother knows about Starforce and refuses to buy / use games that include it.
Both points means UBI is suicidal to continue using SF, at least in America. I can't speak for their actions nor the public's reactions in other countries.

yes well not that im not happy that they are not using sf. But to say it was only the law suit well i find that higly dubtfull. But well what dose this debate realy mather i could care less what cp ubi uses on other games.

I'm not saying it's just the lawsuit, but that in and of itself does involve a lot of bad publicity and enough attention to qualify for a class-action suit in the first place.
Oh well, the debate is moot anyways, UBI dropped SF from HoMMV and that makes me happy. If it is SecuROM, then they've made a big step up the ladder of acceptable CP schemes.
