Thread: X-52 Off Center Issues | Forums

  1. #1
I cant remember when this started, and the saitek forums are really no help.

When I play 1946, the only game I play, for a while the joystick will flash once and then subsequently be off center. (Because of input deflection at the time it flashes)

It appears that, for some reason the stick looses power for that split second. I've done all I can think of:

    1. Bought a PCI USB card (4 slots)
    2. Bought an external powered USB hub.

I've formatted and reinstalled EVERYTHING, bought newer version of XP (Pro/Media Center/etc)

I've disabled the power management feature of of every USB hub in the hardware manager.

And finally, I bought a new X52 stick, for when I send the first back for serviec, and it STILL happens!

I'm at my wits end here guys, I am ready to give up flying IL-2 and start needle point or something.

PLEASE HELP ME - I HAVE LITTLE HAIR LEFT !

    -Rick

Saitek forums no help? Thats a new one on me. What did Richard say?
"The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.[Europe], under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, judges and governors shall all become wolves. " - Thomas Jefferson

Well there aren't any solutions to this in Saitek. I can't post anything as it won't allow me and won't send me a password reset.

Sean, not Richard, said it may be a short in the stick and said to RMA. However, like I said, a new stick does the same thing.

    Does that help?

I found several references to your problem @ saitek forums. Seems to me you didn't search very good I hit 3 searching for "x52 calibration" that described the same problem; shorts power loss and failed calibration...

That aside, try removing the folloeing keys from the registry
ere's a list of the keys in the registry that the install will look to try and remove (but sometimes can't due to system specific problems).

    Click Start>Run, type

    regedit

    and then click OK.

Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and then look for each of these folders (highlighted in bold at the end of each string) and delete them if you find any of them.

Then re-install drivers and SST software, reboot and check if this has solved the problem.
<span class="ev_code_YELLOW">connect the x52 to a motherboard USB!!</span> NOT a PCI card's and never ever to an external hub. That's asking for problems.

    Anyway,

I did search, same terms, here's my results.

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
I'm sorry I wasn't clearer, I didn't think I had to go through the trials of Job here, but then this is what makes this the zoo.

I did go through all those hoops. I went through every post on that forum, yeah I read the registry removal stuff, and got a reg script from support. But, still no go.

Support had me try all these other methods, PCI, external powered hub. Still no good, even if it's on MB USB.

And you've gone through one RMA already? It's possible to get two bad sticks in a row but it makes one suspicious for sure. I'd talk to support again and try one more RMA, if you ask they will most likely send you a new one before you send back the old one. Then if you get one more that does the same thing maybe support will be able to track it down.

P.S Sorry, I'm, sure we didn't mean to come off like we were giving you the third degree. We try to keep the Zoo in the other forums, not community help but I guess we all have our moments, lol.

I am going through the RMA process as we speak. However, this second stick is store bought, so I could still fly - and then give to my son.

I would really find it interesting if it turns out both sticks, bought 9 months apart, ended up being 'bad'.

I still think it's a power related issue, of some sort. Funny thing is, the stick(s) didn't always behave like this. Too bad, I can't determine what is different between then and now.

System is fairly new, only about 7 months old. It's not a power supply issue as there is a 600 W PS in the box.

There is a fellow by the name of aussiejim (Metal70 here) on the SimHQ boards that supposidly has a detailed thread concerning this very problem, but alas, the thread no longer exists.

If anyone knows this fellow, please tug his ear as he hasn't visited the boards in sometime. I have a message to him.

    Thanks,

    Rick

    My Apologies to you CarpeNoctem43.

I didn't mean to offend you or put you through the 'trials of job'

The only problem I ever had with saitek was solved by their support forums within 48 hours. It comes a bit as a surprise to me seeing several saitek users report bad wxperiences with their equipmwnt and support in the last few weeks alone. I'm not sure what to make of it. My evo is still working flawless after more than 6 years of use, so is my X45.
Sorry if I could not be of more help to you, I hope some others have a solution to help you out.
