Thread: Delete chatlog messages in IL2 | Forums

  1. #1
    As rarely as i ever use IL2's annoying chat box while playing, i cant seem to get rid of old messages that seem to be saved everytime i load the game...That's one feature that needs to be removed or able to switch off, since my boys use TS..Is there a way to delete these old messages? I've been in the heat of battle with people whom are not using TS and had to type a quick msg, only to get some text i typed 10 yrs ago

    In the file conf.ini in your game folder, look for this section:
    <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">[chat]
    region=(dx=0.6925,dy=0.071666665,x=0.0,y=0.0)
    msg0=howdy
    adr0=ALL</pre>

    The lines beginning msg are the pre-used messages. They can be deleted directly from confi.ini

    These prepared quick messages are created whenever you start a chat message with a number. To avoid creating new ones, get in the habit of starting your chat messages with a space before a number. When I was using text on a regular basis I started ALL messages with a space just to maintain the habit.
    An alternate approach is when typing '6' in chat to warn a wingman that his six is occupied, type '@6' instead, this will stop the prepared message function from kicking in.

    Unfortunately there is no method I'm aware of for turning it off altogether.
