Thread: 8 days after the German release | Forums

8 days after its release in Germany, a relative majority of the expressed opinions about S5 that can be found in the german settlers forums is negative. The essence of these opinions is: This is not a settlers game.

The game is not yet ranked in most of the sales ranking lists. In the Amazon list it is ranked 7th, down from 4.

Technical problems are frequent. An example is this:

Summary translation of the first post:

'The DVD is a technical catastrophy.

Before the installation, the DVD asks you to delete all cd copy programs and virtual cd drives, otherwise it cannot be started. But even after doing this it cannot be started. In addition, you need to inactivate all cd and dvd drives apart from one. And even then it does not work on the three different dvd drives that I tested. The ultraaggressive copy protection generates such massive incompatibilities even with the most common dvd drives (e.g. Plextor 712-A) that the dvd is simply not installable.

One day after the release, Ubi started an endless list of 'incompatible' dvd drives on their homepage. The only recommended solution was to try a firmware update. [........] [After the firmware update] the dvd is still uninstallable, which I have tested on three different XP systems, with three different dvd drives.'

I liked the demo. I haven't had a decent new game in a while and liked all the settlers game. Wondered why they didn't put Trojans in the American market.

If this game is in DVD it rules me out. I have a 3 year old computer it has a Intel Pent 4 1.6gig processor and gforce 2 video card I am going to make do with it for one more year.

Sounds like you can be so paranoid about protecting something that it ends up losing you business. Not so sure these krauts are very smart business wise.

Liked the promo like I said. Too bad...
