Thread: Getting Past the Learning Curve: EXTREMELY HELPFUL!!! | Forums

Ok... after playing the game for a few hours, i accepted the fact that there really is no resemblance to the skate controls. After some fooling around i was able to find a little "on / off" setting that made all the difference for me. As of right now you shifty by holding down LT then pushing the right stick which is very difficult to get used to; you grab just by pushing the right stick in any direction. This is the exact opposite of skate (at least to some degree). In skate you do all your shifties with the right stick and grab with the trigger. Ok now the good stuff... if you go into settings you will find one switch that says "reverse grab and shifty." Switch that to ON. This will allow you to shifty with the right trigger and grab while holding the left trigger. Now you are a whole lot closer to playing skate on snow!!!!!! Let me know if you thought this was helpful...

I got the actual game today. Its pretty bad ***. You can pretty much throw your spins. Its a lil hard to get used to at first. You gotta build up for the spins and flips. Takes a lil while but then its all good.

It does take a while to perfectly land a trick too. I always do a little too much and fall on my face.

As for the control swap...I did that straight away too!

R1de, I am really torn now seeing all the people complaining about the game, do you honestly think it is worth it for me to get the game? Just need your opinion on this one, thanks

To be 100% honest with you... this little controll swap made all the difference for me. It took me about an hour to get tricks to look the way i want them to. Example... i throw this ridiculous cab 5 tail grb that looks SO GOOD!! I'm really starting to enjoy the game. Although i must say the rail aspect of the game truly is amped 3. As for getting the game, yeah i really think you should. Just give it some time to get past the learning curve and trust me, you'll enjoy it.

Spinning... yes. Flipping... no its not as easy as skate. Its actually really difficult to land things clean.

I've been playing it the whole day now and it's true what you say, you need some time to get used to the controls, but I think the game rocks, rails could've been better, but it's not as bad as amped 3.
