Just wondering whether anyone in this forum has any practical experience on submarines?
I have noticed a pilot residing in this forum, but it would be great to see the true submariners.

Just an old DD sailor here. There are a few of them at the SubSim boards; maybe they'll show up.

I am a former real submariner having served on a 1960's vintage Canadian Oberon class diesal boat. Stayed in a lot of Holiday Inns too when we were in foreign ports! The pink one in Bermuda was a favourite!

My cousin servers on a U.S. nuclear sub. Dont know the name, nor do any of us know where he is at. I guess he is not allowed to tell us.

If you mean staying "inside" all day, looking through a monitor periscope. maybe.

i'm a former DAT (******* tanker)
my uncle Frank and my uncle Andy were on us navy submarines in 1944-1946, but neither of them made a war patrol. my dad was a infantryman with the 1/172nd RCT and fought under MacArthur
fighting a tank from a defensive position (turret-down and hull-down) reminds me a lot of wwii submarine tactics.
1. sit there in turret down watching the enemy
2. pop up to hull down to let him have it
3. retreat back to turret down so they can't shoot back
