Thread: Two awards for U-200 | Forums

  1. #1
Just completed the first patrol in a new u-boat campaign, and recieved two awards upon arrival portbase Batavia, for the very first time in hundreds of laps.

I’m not taking about medals for crewmembers, these two are on display inside the velvet box on the office desk.

U-boat warbadge and the usual one with swords.

Already out on patrol again, so a detailed debriefing isn’t available at the moment.

Can perhaps post the complete targetlist when I return from stage two, it’s not at all an impressive haul.

Anytime you return to port is impressive. Yet having bagged some is even better. As was said in the movie 'Up in smoke'.......... "The bigger the bust, the bigger the boost."
    Congrats Otto

    Nicely done, Kaleun.

You said earlier my post on German manual targeting was helpful. Glad to be of service.

Also, Donna is right about success being returning to port. Allied escorts become very good very fast. I don't know whether the V&W with Hedgehogs is worse than the Fletcher with depth charges. They're both lethal. Enjoy the limited convoy escort while you can.

    Difficulty level: Very hard
    Reality setting: 81
Contacts shown on map and no duds.

Each and all ranked crewmen fired, left port for Davao with the 53 best matrosen available.

Speed 13 knots, empty slots stern torpedo room and engine room, except for three sailors, one per engine shift.

I always activate damage control room, deck gun and anti-air guns every four hours, up to fatiuge 51, where automatic rest sets in.

Crewmembers beneath are left alone, except for the next engine room shift. This or these guys must be ordered to sleep, because of slower fatiuge rate.

The first promoted men are usually placed in the damage control room. I prefer to upgrade six sailors lacking mechanical skills (engine promotion), and the plan is to promote them again as soon as possible.

I’m trying to cultivate an engine expert, propulsion specialist and master engineer,
in my opinion it’s not fun enough to just buy services like this, or any of the other
    specialists.

Three T3 Tankers in Banda sea went down, range 3000 meters.

Darwin port attack early morning 14th June, submerged approach.

    07:09 V&W Destroyer

    07:17 V&W Destroyer

    08:02 Costal Composite Freighter

Surface attack using torpdoes and deck gun, under fire from several sources; landbased guns, two planes and stationary vessels.

Couldn’t destroy all the targets due to critical integrity issues.

    08:38 Elco Torpedo Boat

    08:43 Costal Composite Freighter

    08:59 Elco Torpedo Boat

    09:00 Elco Torpedo Boat

    09:06 Costal Composite Freighter

    Deck gun malfunction.

    09:22 Armed Trawler

Abort and retreat, hull damage = 86 + etc.

11:51 T3 Tanker dying to enter Darwin.

Two stern torpedoes were used, and five bow torpedoes remained unused.

Four sailors suffered shaken morale syndrome and two others had broken morale.
