    However the black bars will always appear in the initial loading/splash screen when booting the game up.
    I have never seen the black bars at all, even on load screen.
    Acer 22" widescreen 1680 x 1050.

    The information in this thread has really helped me. I love the way IL-2 looks on my 24" NCR display at 1920x1200...but...

    Is there a way to set the resolution to 1920x1200 without stretching? The distortion drove me so crazy I had to go back to 1600x1200.

    Thanks.

    Umm, this whole thread is telling you how to get rid of the distortion....

    Post you windows section of your conf.ini and lets get this sorted.
    "The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.[Europe], under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep. If once [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, judges and governors shall all become wolves. " - Thomas Jefferson

    Here is my window section, copied exactly from my conf.ini file:

    [window]
    width=1920
    height=1200
    ColourBits=32
    DepthBits=24
    StencilBits=8
    ChangeScreenRes=1
    FullScreen=1
    DrawIfNotFocused=0
    EnableResize=0
    EnableClose=1
    SaveAspect=0
    Use3Renders=0

    I fiddled around with this for about an hour today, and nothing solved the problem. One strange thing I notice is that the image seems like it's stretched vertically rather than horizontally. For example, if I look at a flying bf.109 from the side, it seems short and fat, but if I look at it from the top down with the nose pointing toward the top of the screen, it seems long and thin. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Another strange thing I noticed is that the vertical stretching is still there in the interface when the black bars are present. If I'm starting a mission in campaign mode and I go to the loadout screen, the bf.109 is still distorted even though the screen hasn't resized to fill the entire 1920x1200 display.

    I'm wondering if this has anything to do with my NVIDIA 8800 GT or some other factor external to IL2.

    Thanks.

    Check your nvidia control panel and make sure you don't have some weird aspect settings or something for the monitor.

    I haven't gotten it to work yet, but you're right about the aspect being the problem, I think. It seems like it's cramming the 16:10 aspect 1920x1200 resolution into the same 4:3 aspect it uses for 1600x1200.

    In other words, it's displaying 1920x1600 at 4:3 aspect. That's a much more succinct way to say it.

    I'll post an update when I get a chance.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi

    Just new around here. Have been playing il-2 rather a lot for about a month now (so im just beginning to get the hang of it ). Today though i tried changing some settings to improve the graphics, and have susbsequently lost my full screen! I cant get rid of the black bars in flight . My native resolution is 1440x900 and my windows options are set too:

    width=1440
    height=900
    ColourBits=32
    DepthBits=24
    StencilBits=8
    ChangeScreenRes=1
    FullScreen=1
    DrawIfNotFocused=0
    EnableResize=0
    EnableClose=1
    SaveAspect=0
    Use3Renders=0

    Any help would be much appreciated! Have tried Stab, but it hasnt helped unfortunately. cheers!

    I'm also new to this. I have a ATI Radeon HD3870 X2 1 GB graphics card with 4 outputs and 3 22 inch monitors that I want to run as a big widescreen display. The native resolution is 1680 x 1050 in the displays. I have my conf.ini file set like this:

    [window]
    width=5040
    height=1050
    ColourBits=32
    DepthBits=24
    StencilBits=8
    ChangeScreenRes=1
    FullScreen=1
    DrawIfNotFocused=0
    EnableResize=0
    EnableClose=1
    SaveAspect=0
    Use3Renders=0

    I think I have followed all the suggestion in this thread and tried everything I can think of to get it to run on three monitors but so far I am unsuccessful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
