Do you still have UAC turned on? If so turn it off and it should reduce this type of issue.

Could I suggest that once the initial changes to the conf.ini are done to ensure widescreen, use IL2 Stab, http://mission4today.com/index.php?n...=search&sa=988 to avoid repeated visits to things in the conf.ini. This programme allows changes to be made without the need to go into IL2 setup or the conf.ini for most user settings.

Credit to mattm, a very useful piece of software.

what model is it? Its highly possible that the resolution maybe 1680x1050.

Did you make all the changes you needed in the setup.exe and in Il2 itself and then edit the conf.ini to get the custom resolution?

    Interesting, what black panels??

I have fairly new 22" LG wide screen, has 1680x1050 resoulution capabilities, with screen auto adjust, and with having IL2's resoulution set at its highest, it looks great, no black panels, or screen cut off at all.

I am on a XP OS, if that has any bearing, don't know.

    Cheers.

I think the term black panels refers to the black bars that appear when playing IL2 when you've set your resolution from within the conf.ini to a custom resolution but haven't set EnableResize SaveAspect both to 0. However the black bars will always appear in the initial loading/splash screen when booting the game up.
