In the new gametrailers interview Claud says that the crew read a book that was about assassins,but I can't figure out what he's saying...It's something like alement..Can any of you tell me what the name of the book is?seems like interesting reading.
He got ideas for a range of books i think, i can't remember what he exactly said but it was somthing like he got the idea from some books he read back in collage, and he dosnt tell us what ones.

My guess is "Alamut", which was the name of their Iranian castle. There are a lot of books on the Assassins, though, so anything on Amazon goes

They referenced both Alamut and The Assassins: A Radical Sect of Islam along with others. I've read both and would recommend them to anyone who is interested in learning more about both the historical aspects and context of the Assassins.
